Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

mark, i have grown to really like you, because you are a real fan and now I really salute you. i could not bring myself to say i even want to watch tomorrow because it may be the same.
I've seen the highs and the lows. I'll stick with these guys til the end.

Tomorrow will be an entirely new game. Q is far too good and far too talented for this to be anything but an anomaly, and Pecknold is extremely good at countermeasures. I think tomorrow will be a one-goal game that could go either way.
We've had a Jekyll & Hyde season so this really shouldn't be suprising. While I never envisioned that beatdown, I knew it was going to be a struggle. If it didn't get into their heads, then tonight will be different. If...

Also, kudos to Q for not getting frustrated and going headhunting. That game situation is brutally embarrassing and all too often guys lose their heads. I salute the coaching staff and players of Q for keeping perspective that 9-1 and 2-1 are the same. We'll see a much better game tomorrow.
I agree. As frustrating as that ****show was, it was nice to see them keep their heads (not sure what that deal was at the end of the 2nd).

For what it's worth, kudos to Mayanja for standing in last night. Heck of a way to get you first collegiate minutes. Not sure what the deal with Shortridge is but it's not good. Petruzelli will need to have his absolute best performance tonight.

And thanks to Cornell for providing the free feed. Quality was top notch and even the announcers weren't bad. Not having to pay to see that mess was the only bright spot of my evening.

As for tonight, all I can say is "welcome to a brand new day".

Go Q!

Mark, have you ever been to Cornell? Such a fun barn to go to as a visiting fan -- the playoff series 11 or 12 years ago was my favorite weekend as a student at QU, and not just because we won. The experience of going to Lynah Rink is something every college hockey fan should experience at some point.

Have not had the pleasure yet. Up until a month ago I would have been able to go this weekend but things at work changed and I couldn't get the time off. Someday I'll get there. Might try to do the central NY road trip next season and take in 'Gate's new barn as well.

Game plan for tonight is pretty simple: win or go home.

Win, lose, or draw, they need to play hard and leave it all on the ice.

Go Q!

Story of our season... lack of scoring. A much better effort than last night but no rubber in the twine doesn't win many games.

Congrats and thanks to the seniors. Best of luck in whatever your futures hold.

This team will be back, and I'll be there to root for 'em no matter what.

Tonight was the type of game I think everyone expected last night as well. Quinnipiac had a jump in their step and caused a lot of turnovers in the Cornell end. But there were very few 2nd chance opportunities, and Galajda was calm and collected in net. Cornell, as has been the case all season, was opportunistic. Cornell being able to kill off 2 five-minute majors was remarkable. Looking back, it’s hard to believe that in 4 games this season, Cornell held Quinnipiac to a total of 2 goals.

As a Cornell fan I wanted no part of Quinnipiac in this series, and last night’s bizarre game aside, I still think the Bobcats were one of the tougher teams for Cornell to deal with this year. I’m sure glad we were able to hang-on tonight and avoid a game 3.

No reason to believe this season was anything but an aberration for your program, as it seems like you guys have some talented recruits coming in and will be back in the hunt next year.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

The reason Shortridge didn't play was due to injury. Happened in the Clarkson game from what I was told.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

I kind of want to be super-negative about the season now that it's over, but this is the first time in our D-1 history Quinnipiac finished under .500. I will choose to celebrate the fact that this season was a severe aberration. We don't even have to wonder whether it was -- we know it was.

We'll be back.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Over coffee this morning a friend of mine calmly said of his experience watching Bobcats this year was "they play blue line to blue line", and that made sense to me. Is there an elite Defenseman in the pipeline? Seems the were just getting bat too often at their own and, which stunts offensive play. I have to say it has been a pleasure this past season and I await next season but no as much as I awaiting this season to begin - - and what a big disappointment this group turned out to be, from a record point-of-view only....as young men, they make me proud by just being good ambassadors of life - - they are not making excuses and played an honorable set of games versus Cornell despite humiliating loss they will use for growth over the off season and I hope Cornell is ready next year...they beat, they schooled, they humiliated a young team. What goes around comes around.....need to add a solid BIG body on D!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

OK season is over and although disappointing things could have been worse. Looking forward to next year I have a question for those that may be more knowledgeable about one of our current players. Dan Nybondas was a freshman this year but did not play. Any one have any ideas if you look at his record he looked like a promising forward. What I have found searching the internet is that his last team was in Finland in their Jr. A SM-liiga league. I have read that it might be considered a professional league. Is that the issue and hes not NCAA eligible? Did he need to sit out a year or did the coaching staff just feel he was not ready. Any thoughts?

I heard it was eligibility and thought he was good to go for the 2nd half.

Dom Fensore '01 with the USA U17 team is an elite offensive defenseman that can move the puck in a flash
Peter Diliberatore '00 is a very good puck mover as well. Played for Salisbury this year. Might be coming in as a true freshman straight from prep next year but have yet to confirm.

I heard it was eligibility and thought he was good to go for the 2nd half.

It was a year he had to sit because he probably would have played if it wasn't. He was kind of a project as well and not sure where he will fit next season with the glut of forwards they are bringing in.
