Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

The feel of the game was an exhibition game. Don't know if it was me or not. AIC also left a couple goals on the ice. Hit a guy in front on an almost empty net.
I don't know if the AIC Penalty Kill looked better tonight(seemed like they were rotating really nice) or if your PP is struggling. AIC also held on for much of the end of the 3rd period. But glad the puck did find its way into the Q zone for more than a few seconds!
The 3-0 Brown game last year might be a better win for AIC. But it's open for discussion.

That's one way to describe it.

0 for forever (0/29 officially)... struggling?... nah.

AIC also held on for much of the end of the 3rd period.
We played better in the 3rd, especially the last half, but nowhere near what we're capable of. It was too little, too late and frankly, it should have never came down to that. Meisner clearly stood on his head (all game) and had help from the iron at least twice.

I had a feeling going into the game that if we didn't score within the first 5 minutes it might be a long night.

Let the EZAC chants begin :( . A very disappointing result for our league along with Clarkson's 2 losses and 2 ties.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

League play begins this weekend with Colgate and Cornell coming to town. The $64,000 question is can they shake off that debacle of Tuesday night? It would have been nice to go into these games with a little confidence and some jump in their step. There's a whole lot of season left so it's way to early to give up the ship but it'll be a much easier road with a few points under their belts.

Colgate tomorrow night has the makings of being a grudge match based on the results from 2 weeks ago on the Cape. Cornell on Saturday will be the usual tough squad that always gives us fits here at home. It's homecoming weekend so we can hope that the crowds will be large and supportive. A good student turnout would help as well.

The boys need to come out with grit, determination, and a ton of heart. They've got to want it and do what it takes to go out and get it. A power play goal or three wouldn't hurt either.

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

You might want to start thinking about what a successful coach is. Is it wins in a year, is it having success in the playoffs, is it having your players, after their four years have success in the pro/minor pro ranks, or all of the above.

It seems to me that Rand has ONE and only ONE aspect to success, and is missing the remaining two.

Oh and by the way, he is the most important thing in the program...not the team or the players...and from where I sit, if the players get more important, he puts them down. Many players have come into his program as draft picks, and by the end of their careers, he has "messed them up"

Mark, A power play goal? Now that's crazy talk.

Good luck to your crew this weekend. The Denvers are on the road at the Mankatos.

Not crazy anymore... we finally got one!!! We also gave one up so our perfect PK isn't any longer but I'll trade that for a 3-2 OT win!

What a great game. They came out and skated hard, outplaying Colgate for most of the 2nd and 3rd periods. Even after 'Gate went up 2-1 they never let up. If not for Mihalik standing on his head (again) the score could have easily been 5 or 6 or more.

Tomorrow will bring a bruised Cornell squad that got handled by Princeton tonight so the Bobcats will need more of what they showed tonight. After that travesty Tuesday night (and the hockey game as well ;) ), it was refreshing to see them bounce back. Sure, a few more goals would be nice but I'll take the little things.

Well done boys!

Hey Katz-man-du, Settle down or I'll see to it your boys are forced to play AIC again. A power play and your boys outshot the opposing team 37-10? Hmmm, I think the ECAC needs to check QU for PEDs.

Nice job. Good luck against Big Red tomorrow. ;)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Now that's how to dominate one of the best teams in the country. Excellent work by Quinnipiac. Those boys were working awfully hard tonight.

2-0-0 in the ECAC!

Over-rated!!! (and the student section let them know that at the end of the game!)

Tremendous effort by the boys... both nights. Tonight they showed what they're capable of. Still need a little work on the PP but it seems to be coming around. Tonight they played with a tenacity I haven't seen in a while. They were all over the Big Red at both ends of the ice. Hartzell got huge support in front and the D saved his bacon a few times. Kellen Jones and Ben Arnt got their first goals of the season, Langlois split 2 defenders to beat Iles, and Cory Hibbeler sniped a beauty.

A great weekend at the Bank. Well done boys!

Mark, Since you seem to be the self-anointed hockey idiot, er, hockey savant of the Bob Katz thread, tell me your assessment of Cornell. I'm interested in hearing it as the Big Red come to Denver for a two game series January 4th & 5th of 2013. In fact, Denver fans get to see a good dose of eastern teams this year. Yale and New Hampshire come here Thanksgiving Weekend for a semi-round robin format event; BU comes here December 29th for the Hall of Fame game; and then Cornell for a weekend in January. That's five games against eastern teams with all the games being here in Denver. Frankly, it's a real treat.

Whatever light you can shed on Cornell--no matter how dim the wattage--would be interesting to hear. And nice job by the Q to come back with a solid two game effort this weekend after stubbing its toe on AIC. Good luck to your crew in upstate NY next weekend. The Denvers play a home and home against CC. And let me pass along an early Happy Thanksgiving wish to the Family MEUSA and have an extra slab o'pecan pie for me. ;)

To be honest, there is no way they're a top-10 team right now. Their play last night was sloppy to say the least, and they weren't using their size like I've seen in the past. Maybe it was their mulligan weekend, but they did not impress me at all.

I'm not sure what our game plan was, but we beat them with aggressive fore and back checking for the most part. They had trouble gaining the zone all night. Andy Iles looked more vulnerable than I've ever seen him. While he made some big saves, he didn't seem to exude any confidence at all. Of course he did get shelled pretty good over the weekend.

Same to the Shot's.

I'm an apple pie type of guy! ;)

Let me see if I understand your de-railed train of thought. According to you, Cornell is in no way a top ten team at this point.

Alright, since Cornell is currently less than a top ten team I take it everyone in the college hockey world should greatly devalue QU's win from last night. :D On the other hand, knowing your abrasive, crude cynicism it strikes me that what your saying is if The Denvers don't sweep Cornell than the Pioneers are a bunch of chumps. Okay, I can live with that. ;) In the meantime I'm looking forward to a rare visit to magness Arena by Cornell.

And as always, thanks for yet another insightful assessment from the mind of Joe Hockey.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

You can't really judge them on what happened last night. They were awful. Lazy to pucks, slow on the backcheck, non-existent forecheck, not as physical as past Cornell teams I remember... they took the night off last night. It's one of those things that happens, from time to time, in our league, and it's hard to say why.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Hello to all,

I recently acquired a nice little collection of MAAC era Quinnipiac College Braves jerseys. Two of them were the same style so I'm willing to let one go. The jersey was worn circa 1999-2000 by Jed Holtzman who scored 96 points in only three seasons with the Braves. The jersey has great wear and was produced in heavyweight knit by CCM in size 52. The back / sleeve numbers are two-color heavy rubberized film (no cracking or breaking present). Anything from MAAC era is tough to find now a days. The price is $175 and includes shipping / insurance within the US.

You can also email me at info@johnsonsjerseys.net if you would like additional photos or if you have further questions. I would also be willing to entertain trade offers for the jersey as well. I prefer other game worn jerseys of D-I mens college hockey programs. I have hundreds of others at my web site (www.johnsonsjerseys.net) and I'm always looking for new additions.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Nice jersey. I picked one up last year on ebay for a deal and I always wanted to know if it was a real jersey. I have #30 which according to hockeydb was Jim White. Thanks for the extra info on the jersey. Good price for the rarity!
