Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Hey all,

I'm going to be in CT for a wedding this weekend, so I'm swinging by for my first ever visit to the TD Bank Center tomorrow to cheer on the Bobcats over (oh how I hate) Ohio State. I seem to recall (and the view on Google Maps seems to confirm) that parking is a bit tight. What's the best advice for a first timer? I probably can't get to the area until around 6:30 pm.

Thanks, and go Bobcats!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Get there early and you will find a spot in the lots near the rink, get there late and you may end up in the garage. I have never had a problem parking, even during sellouts, which I doubt will happen
this weekend. It is not a very long walk from even the farthest location. If you like to imbibe there is a good between period food and drink (including beer) in a special area set up on the basketball side of the complex $20-$30 for the unlimited food and
drink. Have fun.

Shouldn't be a problem except that the weather is supposed to be a bit wet. The regular crowd seems to arrive within the last 20 prior to face off so you might luck out there. I doubt you'll end up in the parking garage but some spaces are just as far away.

Be sure to come by 113 and say hi. We're right there at the section sign every game. And thanks for the support!

Game day at the Bank! Which team will we see tonight? Hopefully they worked out all the kinks this week during practice. I say they thrill the home crowd 5-3 tonight.

I thought you guys played a much more disciplined game than we did and we were Lucky to get the tie, you had some solid scoring chances towards the end and that backhanded shot on net was wicked. I thought your strength was in pretty much controlling the neutral zone, intercepting our passes and keeping the puck on your sticks most of the game.

We were better between the blue lines but still had trouble finishing our chances down low. Hjelle made some key saves and faced a bunch of flurries in front, and was also helped by 3 or 4 posts. Seems we have trouble finding the back of the net early in the season. Overall I thought we played well but a couple of defensive breakdowns were glaring (can you say OSU goal?).

We were without Connor Jones who, as best I could tell from the post game interviews, is officially listed as day to day with some sort of injury. St. Denis did an admirable job in his place on the line with Kellen Jones and Peca. Peca actually looked to come alive last night. He skated much better and handled the puck much better than he has thus far. I thought we got good efforts from 3rd and 4th liners like Harvey, Van Brabant, and Luczyk. Overall our passing was the most obvious improvement over last weekend. Crisp tape-to-tape and for the most part the right pass at the right time to the right guy.

I'm sure OSU will regroup and refine their game plan for this afternoon and we'll need to be ready for whatever they bring. I'm hoping for another good game out of the Bobcats and think it will be another close contest. As far as a score prediction... it'll be a 1-goal margin either way (hopefully the blue and gold way).

So far we seem to be a better Saturday team than a Friday one. We adjust better after we experience what the other team has thrown at us after a full 60 minutes than adjusting on the fly in a game.

Get ready to " RUMBLE. " :)
Sorry OSU fans... I thought you played better last night. One thing that surprised me in both games is that for all your size, the play is not very physical. None of those big bodies did much hitting in this series.

For us I thought we played a bit better tonight. D was a little more stout and the offense, while not stellar, continued where they left off yesterday and finished a few of their chances. Our power play is still non-existant but I think that will come. It did look better tonight than it has and we got several good looks against Olson (who wasn't good with his rebounds). What more can be said about our PK? It's simply awesome and tonight I think the game turned when we killed off the 5-min major. I'm not positive but I don't think OSU registered a shot on the extended PP.

Langlois was stellar all weekend and I think Peca turned a corner with his play. Dahlhueisen and Federico played good, solid D and tonight even JST looked better than he has. Clay Harvery and Kevin Bui were both on their games as well. KJ seems to have settled down a bit with CJ out. I know they both feed off each other but this weekend I thought Kellen held his own with Peca and St. Denis.

Overall it was a successful weekend. I would like to see more goals and a power play goal before Christmas would be nice. On to the Cape to face 'Gate next weekend.

I've been saying the same thing on our thread about our 6'6" & 6'5" players, where's the hits from these guys?
Anyway, congrats on the win, you guys earned it and good luck the rest of the season.

It was blatantly obvious all weekend. It always surprises me when the big bodies skate in circles instead of laying people out. More than likely it was the difference this weekend, or at least a huge factor.

Anyway, congrats on the win, you guys earned it and good luck the rest of the season.
Thanks and same to the Buckeyes.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

You guys WON the game when Peca scored the shorthanded goal on the 5:00 penalty kill. This is the best Bobcat team I have seen in 4 years. Your goalie Hartzell is a big help.

Only one week to go to change or get your picks into the ECAC Pick The Standings Contest 2012-2013 thread. Cutoff date and time are Nov 2 at 7 PM.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Game day on the Cape! Heading out in a little while to catch the game in Hyannis.

'Gate took care of RIT last night putting up 6. We should still be riding themomentum from last weekend. It's hard to tell what kind of team the Raiders really are so far in this young season. We'll just have to go out and play a solid game. I think the key for us (as it has been for a few years) is to go out and get an early goal. At some point the floodgates are going to open... tonight would be a good place for that to happen.

To anyone traveling to the game, have a safe trip. I'm hoping to see a lot of blue and gold at the HYCC!

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Two words: ug-ly!

Gate took the first. QU took the second. In the third it started to get out of hand. The refs had some bearing on that but we started to get outplayed and both sides got a little chippy. Not a good effort by the Bobcats at all.

They have 10 days until the election day game against AIC. My untrained mind can think of several areas to work on... hopefully the coaches have thought of them too. We simply aren't playing up to the level of talent we have on paper.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Heading to Hamden for the AIC game. Didn't realize it will be election day, will have to vote early and skip voting often. Anything to be aware of? Is the rink on campus? How is parking?

btw - If you're voting for Romeny, your voting will be on the 7th. If you're voting for Obama, your voting will be the 8th. All other candidates can be voted for on the 6th.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

The rink is not on the main campus... it's up on the York Hill campus which is on Sherman Ave. For a Tuesday game against AIC I doubt parking will be an issue. If you show up with an "I voted today" sticker admission is supposed to be free.
