Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

haha, nice to know people enjoy my presence at the games :D

i believe they are selling the "beat yale" shirts this weekend at the games. i'll try to find out for you

Yeah, I'll definitely take one if you can get your hands on one. That'll be fun to wear around the house in front of the Yalie.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Looks like our buddy Mr. Brian Sullivan will be at the Bank on Saturday...

"Colgate @ Quinnipiac (8 p.m.)
I will be in attendance at this one, so hopefully it's entertaining. Colgate by a hair though, 5-4 in a shootout."

Come and visit us Brian, we'll be the ones still screaming and ranting when everyone else has given up hope.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

The "Beat Yale" shirts are supposed to be on sale at the games tonight and tomorrow. $10 a piece - all the proceeds go to the Susan G Komen Fund for the cure of Breast Cancer

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Congratulations to Jean-Marc on his nomination for the Lowe's Senior Class award. Over the past few years I've been his teacher, friend, and fan - and I've never seen a young man who better exemplifies the four criteria for this award: classroom (academics), character, community, and competition. Johnny - you're the best!

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Congratulations to Jean-Marc on his nomination for the Lowe's Senior Class award.
I'll second that. I've always been impressed by JMB character. I've seen him in off-ice situations a few times and he just beams with enthusiasm, especially if there's youngsters around. On the ice, he's not a headline maker but I like his style and he has contributed greatly to the success of this program over the last 4 years.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

In a little less than 8 hours we'll be underway at the Bank. A crucial weekend for the 'Cats. Every point is critical and there's no margin for error. Each game is going to show what the character of this team really is. One shift at a time, one period at a time, one game at a time. No looking past tonights final buzzer. Bring the "A" game and leave it all on the ice. I still have faith and believe in this team!

Go Q!

The Bobcats have given the Big Red fits in years past, but I can't pick QU when they've shown so little spark since Christmas. Somebody check for vitals, because Quinnipiac is fading fast ... 3-0 Cornell

I guess I take exception to that "little spark" comment.

Sure, we haven't won since mid-December but we have had at least some spark lately. Maybe this is the weekend we finally capitalize on it?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

He's Brandon Wong and he hates Reds.

Lets go Bobcats. Big game from Wonger tonight. Add it to the list.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Here's to a good, clean game this evening! Feeling a little nervous about this one, because Q has had Cornell's number recently, and because logic (ok, gambler's fallacy, maybe) tells me that Q has to turn things around eventually. I just hope it's not tonight :D

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Spot on analysis of this thread and this upcoming weekend. I think the atmosphere will be huge this weekend. The student support is a joke. Talk about fairweather. It is understandable that not everyone is going to get up for Niagara, but I think we are giving them way too much credit in thinking that they know the difference between Niagara and say north country weekend earlier in the year, when they came out in full force.

There is no doubt in my mind that the boys will keep both games very close this weekend. Given the amount of shots theyve been putting on with relative ease, something has to give. I hope the alumni comes out and shows this current class of students what a real student section was like (see photo link at end of rant). It'll be a long week waiting in anticipation. Mark and I will be there in our usual spot hoping, praying and shouting.

Go Q!

i have received an email that says tonights game is sold out, so it should be a packed house tonight which is good. sorry i havent been posting a lot lately guys, but i have always had trouble keeping up with posting in forums, i just get incredibly lazy :o .

and about your point on the student section ANW, unfortunately i have to agree with you. It was incredibly disheartening to see all of my fellow peers give up on the game so early at the friday night Niagara game, and then see the lack of support the following night. i mentioned this in my first post ever here on this forum. there are many of my peers that really want to be enthusiastic about this team, but its hard for them as many have come from backgrounds that are not huge on hockey. when the team was rolling, there was a real buzz, but now its just a feeling of "ehh, hockey teams playing, guess i can squeeze in 2 periods before heading to new haven for the night". that kind of mindset at these games really infuriates me, as many of the fans have such a sense of complacency.

either way, you will see me and my group of friends that are really, truly passionate about our bobcats, in our same spot, front row right behind the net, as always.

4-3 bobcats win tonight!

Schvatz, obviously that post was not directed to your contingent of fans. You guys are what we used to be...the few, the proud, the Crazy Bobcats. But school wide the support just isn't there. What happens tonight is Cornell comes out and puts in two early. How quickly will the student section empty out? Oh well, there's only so much we can do individually.

BTW, the spot where you guys stand for every game is where my little group stood for every game two seasons ago. Great minds truly do think alike. See ya up there tonight. Here's to a win!

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Feel like the student fan issue is one for the mid-week grind but welcome to go at it now.

Lets go Bobcats.

The feeling's mutual DC. To the victor belong the spoils... ;)

Of course, we all hope tonight is the night we start our trip back to the promised land! :p

We all know there are no gimme's in the ECAC... anything is possible. From my perspective, there's no better time for a Bobcat win than tonight!

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

It is really tough to watch these guys right now. They do so many good things, but a couple mistakes go against them and they can't get em back.

I really don't think they played a bad game. Cornell is the best-coached team in the league, Shaefer's fantastic. He brings in kids who he knows will play his system well, and they execute it evry well. They're my favorite opposing team to watch in the league, I just love how they play.

That being said, Dan Clarke had a rough game. The first goal was a 5-hole rebound, he's gotta make the stop. Second goal, another rebound, and I'd like him to see the puck a little faster. Certainly, that puck is probably in either way, but that was a bad rebound.

And finally, our student "fans." What a joke. We're on national TV, and the kids just have no pride. 1-0 game, start of the third, but let's go get drunk instead of representing our University well.

Embarassing.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

ZYanks has it right.

I'll probably be in a better frame of mind to discuss tomorrow but horrendous turnout by the Hamden lack of faithful. Empty sections all around. So much for a sell out.

CBS-CS is re-airing this at 11p if you missed it LIVE.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

OUCH. I was personally hoping your winless slide would be over by now, because now my team is bait for you guys.

My ticket for tomorrow's game has me seated in Section 115, though I may watch from the standing room areas because I like to stand at hockey games. If you see a young individual in a Colgate sweatshirt or wearing a Colgate hockey hat (I'm undecided on what to wear), chances are it might be me. Feel free to say "hi."

Come on over to the pole at 113 and introduce yourself! ;)

As for tonights game... what can be said? Another night of rotten puck luck mixed in with a few costly mistakes. Another game we outshot our opponent 2 to 1 with nothing to show for it. Another loss. This has to end sometime, right?

We played well but against the wrong opponent. While I hate Cornell's brand of hockey, they do what they need to do, and do it well. Scrivens was solid as usual but wasn't overly impressive. We had 2 or 3 shots off the post and another wide open net whiff by Wong. If just one of those go in...

Oh well... regroup and try to take it to Colgate (sorry, Rainman). This has to end sometime, right?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Part II

Where are most of you die-hards situated, arena-wise? I'll definitely come by and say hi, if I can identify you.

Hey Mark and Luke

I have a theory..........my Bruins are reeling and so are you guys. If one or the other team can win a game.... the other will be lifted right out of the mess and come out of their slump.

I saw Bob McKenzie tonight at the RPI/SLU Game (by the way his son Mike recorded career points 100 and 101 tonight) and I told him I was looking to acquire a pearl handled, Boston Bruin logo'd Hari Kari knive if he could find one for me. When will this losing ever stop????!!!!!!

We tied tonight and I'll take it. I think the road will be tougher against Union tomorrow. SLU played well enough to win tonight but the end of the game got ugly....a big scrum with about 3-4 minutes to go and we wound up a man short for 2 minutes and Bollig got a game misconduct and was gone for the rest of the night. It was a close to a fight as I have seen in years. Good luck against Gate tomorrow night.

allnightwong, myself and whomever we drag with us can be found at the top of 113 (opposite the press box). We usually get there early, too (sometimes before they even turn the lights on! ).
