Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

The listed roster has Derek as a Freshman ?????

Believe your looking at last year's roster, as that is still up on the website. I think the updated 2011-12 roster should be up around school begins in a few weeks.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

The roster posted is a mix and match with last years seniors still listed and some underclassmen already moved up to their new class and some not.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Friars have picked up a commitment from one of the top goalie recruits, to enter PC in 2013. Nick Ellis is going to be a junior at the Pomfret School, and picked the Friars over UNH. He's from Maryland and is "lanky" (6' 1") and extremely athletic. He's already being watched for next years NHL draft.

Looks like the goalie situation is set for the future with LaPlante and now Ellis.

Also, from Judd Brackett's twitter account:
Nick Rufo formerly of the Boston Jr Bruins (Empire) has committed to Providence College. He will be playing at KUA this year.

I was just looking at the schedule--where did the exhibition game with the russians go? It's no longer listed.

Re: From the Projo - July 28, 2011

Projo sports reports that the Dunk is bidding on regionals again. This is long overdue, as Providence has long been a favorite spot for NCAA fans. However, I hope they are more user friendly than the last time. It further reports they are looking to bring in the Ice Breaker Tourny. It is good to see Providence as being proactive in college hockey again!

Any idea of what games will be shown on Cox 3 this year

That link says they're going after Brian Hart--isn't he already going to Harvard?

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Its great to see Providence getting involved in the bidding for ncaa's once again. I went up to Worcester 2 seasons ago and had a great time watching BC beat Yale in a shootout and eventually go on to the national championship. As far as the ice breaker tourney, you cant go wrong when u have national powers from out west coming in. Good for all local college hockey fans to get a look at a Michigan or a Wisconsin and so forth. If they get even 1 of these it is a win!

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

The Cox dates are not set yet. I'm hopeful they may increase the number of games, but we will see. It is great to see Providence in the mix for both the NCAA's and the ice breaker Tourney, which always draws a great field.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Glad to see the Dunk back in the game. I'm sure the fact there is a Bennett at the helm of the convention center authority makes a difference.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Northeastern came out with their roster today. I am curious as to when Providence releases their's.
