Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

I notice that you have left Army off the fowards list.......

They might end up being pretty good.
Up front they have a solid top 9+/- with Schaller, Balisky, Rooney, Bergland, Cross, Luke, Aciari, Brown, Mauerman and Demopoulis Will be surprised if they dont add 1 or 2 more F's before season starts and if so that much better. New HC has gone with older kids so they will be more apt to adjust and produce quicker than 18 year old hs kids. Beaudry will be fine and D is solid with 5/6 returning and a couple new solid additions. Could see PC jumping up to 6-7th. Bergland in particular will be back and good without the insane manipulation and politics from last year in place. You dont go from 27 pts as a freshman and 23 as a sophmore to 9 as a junior without manipulation, which is what happened.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Just re upped my season tickets for the upcoming season and looking forward to a slow but steady rise through the hockey east standings. It may take a little while, but at least we will be going in the right direction.

re-upped and bought an additional ticket so I now have 5. The ticket office said there was a modest increase mostly in family plan sales.

Thats fine, he played 24 games last year and looked undersized and overmatched most of the time.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – On Monday evening, July 25th, Connor Gorman of Shrewsbury received the call he was hoping for. He had been selected to play on the Team USA in the World Junior Hockey tournament in Omsk, Russia. Gorman, who is committed to play for Providence College in the Hockey East Division 1, will travel with several other player from the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) at the end of August to compete against teams from Russia, Latvia, Slovakia, Canada, Sweden, Belarus and Finland. Gorman will be playing for the EJHL New Hampshire Monarchs next season, taking classes in Manchester, prior to attending Providence in the fall of 2012. [/B]This all amateur tournament will place some of the worlds best under 21 players in Omsk, Russia for this week long tournament. Gorman attended St. John’s in Shrewsbury prior to transferring to New Hampton Prep in New Hampton, New Hampshire where he helped get his team to the championship game of the Prep school tournament, before losing to the Dexter school out of Boston. Gorman lead the D1 Prep league in goals and points this past season (39 G, 30A). ”I am so excited to represent Team USA in the World Junior tournament and hope to come home with the gold”, said Gorman, who will turn 19 on August 20th.

Thats great news for Connor. Looking forward to seeing him as a Friar in 2012. The other recruit in that class - Brent Norris is leaving his Canadian junior team to play next year in the USHL for Cedar Rapids. Its a step up in competition, so will be interested to see how his (gaudy) numbers from Canada translate to the USHL.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

I saw clips of Connor Gorman on youtube. Understanding the competition isn't the best, he still looked very impressive.

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

Best of luck in the new season, with a new coach, some new players, and what? They're renovating the Coffin?

Re: Providence College Summer 2011: The Hockey Guy Adventures

I have been told that there is no way to control it. Which is complete BS. I hope that they fix it as well.
