POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

Unless you're steeped in a 19th century mindset, there is no 'church'. There is Christian doctrine - Jesus' Word - and people.

Hey, you got your Lutheranism in my peanut butter!

In Catholicism there is church dogma and anything else The Word might be is none of your business. Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus, muthaf-cka. Interpretations of Jesus other than the church are perverse and they won't even get you a seat at the kiddies' table in paradise.

Even better!

Ya get what you deserve lady.

This whole Carrier thing smells like a set-up. A pre-packaged crisis in his running mate's home state that he miraculously was able to solve with a wave of his hand. It reminds me of the hostages being released on Reagan's inauguration day kind of schtick.

I'm still waiting for anyone in the media to dig a little more with him on the 1000+ jobs that are actually still going to Mexico, and to see if he will back out of his other promise about taxing whatever products are made there and come back into the US. Seems like he conveniently forgot about that as well.

Damage to the homosexual cause has not been caused by people following Jesus' Word - don't throw stones - but rather by failing to do so.

So now we're back to Catholics not being Christians? Didn't that little ditty go out of vogue 50 years ago?

I have a Lutheran friend who likes to call Catholics "Christians-Plus," because they take on many of the tenets of the Bible but then add in these extra things like the saints and His Holiness - the Dalai Lama - HIMSELF. She says much the same about the Mormons.

In all honesty, I don't think it's an attitude that has ever really died out across the country, only in certain areas.

Get ready for "principled conservatives" to suddenly discover there are important limits to states rights.

If I were CA I'd just split. IIRC they're the 9th largest economy in the world, and they hardly want to be spending the next hundred years tied to the sh-tsack that is most of the rest of the union.

They should take the rest of Alta California with them. I'm sure western OR, western WA and BC will want to join as well. That's the makings of one very nice nation state.

CA is in a tough spot in that regard. They currently get a lot of water from other states. Would that continue? Californians would have to either sign an international treaty for water or invest heavily in desalination plants across their shores. They do a good chunk of our national farming out there, so I think an ag-for-water treaty would be the most likely outcome. Our military presence there would be a fun thing to see the two governments negotiate. San Diego might just become a ghost town if the US were to pull out its military bases from CA and move them up to OR or WA.

A nation state comprising CA, OR, WA, and BC could win a World Cup in 20 years or so.

The debate up here in AK on whether to join or not would be fascinating...

Dudes! You cannot keep someone from The Valley engaged and on course in a conversation of political substance for 3 consecutive minutes. They will never get a secession plan together in a thousand years.

AK to CA is a corridor of legal marijuana. If Trump's DEA decides to go after that you'll get a healthy discussion real quick.

I wouldn't wait for the media to do that because 1) they're useless and 2) they're afraid of challenging him. However, now every time a company outsources jobs people are going to look to Trump to stop it. If he can, great. If he can't (more likely) you're going to have a lot of disappointed people. With this Carrier deal, everybody is now going to expect the same thing in their neck of the woods.

Was this more about Trump, Carrier, or Trump paying off the debt he owed (the Indiana GOP and Indiana Gov.) Pence for running with him.

;)

Imagine the nightmare scenario that Trump/Pence win reelection and then Mike Pence gets two terms in the future. Would Mike Pence be the first person since FDR to effectively get four terms as POTUS?

Kep, you left your map laying around again.

What do you mean "would"?

It's a common theory out there, that the Trump presidency will really be a Pence presidency. It's much like (or exactly the same) as to how people said that W didn't really run his WH, it was Cheney's office to run.

Except in this case it's far, far more obvious.

IDK if this was posted anywhere but 600 jobs for Carrier are still moving to Mexico.

I'm of a different mind. Too many pundidiots try to read tea leaves based on who he's appointing. Are the a Pence person or a Breitbart person or whatever. None of this matters. Trump is going to do whatever pops into his head with little input from the people who he considers one step up from the waitstaff. He doesn't care what Paul Ryan, Mike Pence, his DOD pick, his Commerce pick, his Treasury pick, or anybody else thinks. Basically they're all just noisy furniture. Trump is enjoying the coverage of his cabinet choices far more than he'll enjoy or use any input he gets from them.

So, I see his administration playing out as such. 1) He'll keep his promise to expand and fence in the existing border wall, and claim somehow that Mexico is paying for it via taxes Mexican tourists pay when they visit the US or some other such nonsense. 2) He'll claim he's started deporting criminal illegals when in fact he'll just continue current policy. 3) He'll blow the deficit wide open with a big infrastructure program while passing across the board tax cuts because that's what Republicans do when they have a chance. 4) He'll screw Paul Ryan on Medicare privatization once someone (maybe Ivanka) whispers in his ear that its his core supporters who will be taking it in the shorts.

Trump is absolutely unencumbered by campaign promises. He'll just tell you he didn't say that even if you have a recording to the contrary and move on. He owes GOP leaders in Congress absolutely nothing, which is what they'll be getting any time their interests diverge from his. He'll just as soon make deals with Dems as Republicans as long as the end result gets him good press. Its going to be a wild and ultimately disappointing ride for all involved.

Do you have me on ignore or something? Top of the page. :)
