in the regular season geneseo was 14-2 and oswego was 10-5-1 and geneseo was 2-0 versus the lakers. Considering that oswego had 24 newcomers to the team i think an argument can still be made for gosek, but i'd imagine most people would go with the coach that won the regular season title after being predicted to finish 3rd in the pre-season.

Great win on saturday and congrats!! Hopefully, we'll get one more game against you guys :d:)

Even so, I think Eddies body of work is more impressive given how much he lost from last season, he basically started from scratch and turned them into a contender. The last few years we heard all about the talent and they only won because they had the best players, well they had to take a different approach and still got it done. And again Schultz has done a great job and if Oswego doesn't win it all then I hope Geneseo does and hopefully they can turn the corner and go from annoying little brother to perennial SUNYAC contender.

That vote had to be very close. Schultz has turned in to a fine recruiter as well as a game coach. Probably went to whomever won the regular season title and Genny was great from soup to nuts where Oswego struggled at times in conference play. Gosek might rank higher in a National coaching poll given what he had to deal with through graduation losses. Both are deserving.

I have to agree with you totally. The NCAA did a fine job of basing the Cardinals whole season on 2 or 3 games and not the total year. I could accept it more if they had followed their criteria they presented as a means of selection. I feel badly about Mat too. He was great for us these past 3 years. I know it is all water over the dam now and I wish everyone who was selected all the best.

I'm not talking about the cadieux snub. I agree completely on that and it's a shame if it effects him not getting named all-American because surely he is one of the east's best goalies.

I'm more shedding light on the Norwich jab. NU has nothing to do with the sunyac.

From what I can see I'd say the NCAA followed their own criteria pretty well to make their selections. For one thing Emery was talking about winning 3 out the 5 categories compared to Norwich, but the NCAA uses 6 categories for selection not 5, all 6 of which would apply to the Norwich-Plattsburgh matchup. Plattsburgh wins Win%, H2H, and COP, while Norwich wins RNK, SOS, and L25, so it's a tie in a straight up category comparison. Plattsburgh has the H2H which is important, while Norwich has a significant advantage in SOS and RNK, the other 3 categories are extremely close.

If you look at the four East teams that were hoping to get the Pool C bid and compare them to each other head to head using the 6 categories the NCAA uses, their selection of Geneseo and Norwich makes sense.

Based on the stats the NCAA put out last week and the d3hockey updated numbers after this weekend here is how each matchup would play out by my calculation. I also assumed that Amherst got back in the rankings as the #8 seed this week after they beat Williams which would alter the RNK for Trinity compared to last week. I think Amherst getting in to the rankings and dropping Trinity's RNK to 0-2 is the best explanation why they didn't get in. So in that case here is what the matchups look like to me:

Geneseo beats Trinity 2-1
Geneseo beats Norwich 3-2
Geneseo beats Plattsburgh 4-0
Norwich beats Trinity 3-2
Norwich ties Plattsburgh 3-3
Trinity beats Plattsburgh 3-2

There are definitely arguments to be made that the criteria the NCAA uses is not the best, but if they just use these 6 categories and compare who wins more categories it makes perfect sense why they went with Geneseo and Norwich.
