Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

Should be a Cake Walk for the Lady Cards. There are 2-0 in H2H against the Cadets. Plus they have had the best body of work this year and have the Player of the Year in goal. Best of luck to the Cadets and here's hoping to make it 2-0 in closing out the Cards Hockey Programs this year.;)

How did that work out for you ??....P.S. Oswego closed out our season, you guys had nothing to do with it. In fact, we ate your lunch at depressing Kreitzberg this year, remember?

Just got back home from the trip to Plattsburgh. Very dominating game by the Lady Cards over the Cadets. Plattsburgh was a faster transition team and certainly knows how to bury the puck when the chances are there. Was a pleasure to watch the game at Stafford even with the lopsided outcome. Large crowd for a women's Div III game.
As a side note I would like to see NCAA phase out the style of goal post anchors used at Stafford. The nets have a tendency to come off easier than the style used at Norwich which has the foam cylinder insert.
Time to put away the Norwich fleece and oil up the glove and follow the World Series Champions. Have to see if the free spending Bronx Bombers can justify the money they spent this winter.

There was a very large, nice contingent from Norwich - glad to see they made the trip, and the home crowd wouldn't have razzed them so much if they didn't recognize Norwich as a formidable rival (scoring first probably didn't help either).

Also the goal post did seem to come off more often, that historically hasn't been a problem at the Stafford, but it was this weekend, not sure why, but it wouldn't hurt to improve them in any event.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

for the men they use the tubes that go down into the ice and not the pegs... I'm wondering if it's a rule in the womens game???

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

That is something that needs to be addressed all across DIII hockey, mens and womens. Players (goalies) are getting very good at making sure the goal posts get "knocked off" at the right time  Still not as bad as a certain Oswego goaltender a few years back tho lol

If you use pegs, the posts don't come off unless you crash the net. If you use pins, the net comes off with a decent nudge, including a goalie pushing off against the post. Maybe the NCAA should mandate pegs??

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

I thought Norwich put on a very respectable performance, never got chippy despite the lopsided scoreline, and were respectful in defeat during the award ceremony. The only blemish on the night was one of those instances of the net coming off where I saw what certainly appeared to be the Norwich goaltender GRABBING the post and LIFTING the net off its peg, which led me to comment to my uncle that it was the 2nd most blatant Delay Of Game I'd ever seen (behind Mr. Midol, of course)... Other than that, Norwich deserves an applause for their professionalism last night.

Take nothing away from Miss Aveson's stellar season and performance on the four straight Norwich power plays but it looked like a couple of times she used the friendly goal fastening mechanicsm to her advantage with ever so slight nudges when she was down and out flopping around ;)

I'm pretty sure Lawrence doesnt use anything. A fart could move those goals.

Not saying she didn't. Every goaltender does it... I'm just saying that some are more subtle about it than others ;)

One would think you would be a fan of Oswego's 08-09 goalie. He gave your guys a chance to rest their legs on their way to dealing him two loses and seven goals against in those two games

Interesting
I always thought the system used at a rink was what was installed in the rink floor. Guess it makes sense to have a universal system so there would be options for how the goals would be held on depending on the caliber of teams playing or if just for practice. You would think a conference could determine which mounting system would be used for league games. I guess this would take away a coaches decision as to what system they want to use for home games.

Re: Plattsburgh State Hockey 13-14 Season 25

Plattsburgh uses a different system for the men's games and the women's games. My guess? They want the net to come off a little easier during the women's games. You don't want the goals staying in place for a couple of ladies charging the net that just don't have the weight behind them the men do. I would guess it's a player safety and injury issue....
