Plattsburgh State 2010

Re: Plattsburgh State 2010

Talked to a Chatham Mom today. She says the problems the team had in the past may be behind them. New coach and supportive AD have improved the atmosphere there. If true, look for improvements in the next couple of years!

I'm not sure which parent you talked to...but this is the exact opposite of what I perceive to be true. The problems the team had in the past were several of the players...mostly all of which quit last season...and then proceeded to get the head coach fired, which paved the way for their return this season, along with the transfer out of 5 extremely solid and capable players who were angry about the situation that had gone down (one each is now playing at Neumann, River Falls, Elmira, Oswego, and their top defenseman from last year who is home in Canada). Not to mention the excellent recruits they had who backed out of their commitments when the old coaching staff left.

There had already been huge improvements over the last few years (Chatham was leading Plattsburgh through 36 minutes of a game last season). It's a hard enough place to have success at, espeicially when the powers that be (and this goes well beyond the new AD) are working against you. Until that all changes, it's going to be more of the same.

Re: Plattsburgh State 2010

I don't know which was the problem at Chatham: players or coach last year. However, from what is posted seems eeriely similar to how the coach ended her time at NEC.

I don't think these two situations are even remotely similar, but you like everyone here are entitled to your opinion.

Wouldn't jump the gun too much. This coach gets it. He's fiery and visibly passionate, something you wouldn't get from the Chatham bench before. A timeout with 52 seconds left in the game in a 6-0 loss? Whatever. Teach them. Whatever it takes to improve the program, that's fine. Call a timeout with 5 seconds left for all I care. Come up with a plan and take the steps necessary. You aren't going to beat Plattsburgh overnight. But maybe next time you score two or three goals. And the next time maybe its a two-goal game instead of a 12-goal game. Give them credit for not giving up on the team and at least seemingly trying to rebuild.

Re: Plattsburgh State 2010

I have to take issue with this part of your statement

Visibly passionate? I'd never really seen any visible signs of care from the bench before. Not that there wasn't care. It just wasn't as outwardly expressed as I saw this weekend.

Re: Plattsburgh State 2010

what is a visible sign of care? unless you were at every game, every practice, every meeting, every recruiting trip, every pre-game speech, post-game speech, between period talk, and/or any other activity that may have involved any player regarding hockey, school, or their life in general.....

then that is an assumption or accusation that you are ill prepared to make.

let me also add that the last time chatham was in plattsburgh....their hotel burned down. i'm sure there was no visible caring that day either.

and with that, i think we should let the plattsburgh team have their thread back.

So clearly you were at every game, every practice, every speech, etc. Please educate me then, since I so clearly don't get it, and you do.

Take a breath. I said I, personally, never saw any signs of care. I wasn't speaking for the other 299 million people in the U.S.

Really my main point was how this team is growing and the coaching staff and everyone really look like they're going out and doing their best. And somehow this all turned into a negative?

I'm giving this team credit and giving the school credit. The past is the past. This weekend I saw a coach who really cared about how his team looked out there. Take that for what it is and if you still choose to compare that to the previous regime, that's on you. Right here, right now, I'm saying this team has a coach who cares and is passionate.

yes you said that about this team. and you also took a shot at the old coaching staff. i dont need to educate you on anything because i am not making claims that anyone doesn't care about their team or their program. the old coaches cared, and showed it visibly in plenty of ways that i saw, and i'm sure i didn't see close to all of it. i'm sure the new coaches care and show it as well. trying to turn that back on me doesnt work because we aren't making the same claim.

hahaha my issue isn't about the compliments he paid to this years team. that was very kind of him, but i dont agree with his decision to take a shot at the level of caring of other people who coached chatham in the past based on something like "visible signs of caring." whatever that is anyway.

and with that im really done responding to it on this thread. it's a dead issue as far as im concerned.

kudos on getting the last word!

Re: Plattsburgh State 2010

I have a pulse...unlike Chatham, however!!!

So tell me, do you think 5 4and other EC supporters have been given the "gag order" by the "powers that be" ??? It's awful quiet this young season...and kind of nice too...!!!

up yours...and I mean that in the most sincere way...X-)

Re: Plattsburgh State 2010

does the phrase "be a leader, not a follower" mean anything to you? geez, ain't you got anything of your own to talk about?

"Done like dinner" was a phrase Tiger Williams used quite often when referring to people or teams that couldn't match up to him. It was funny back then, unlike how you are today. How old are you anyway? My eyebrows are up! Leading the blind is not my idea of fun.

all my point was is that you always just tack on to whatever 5 4 says. i wasn't trying to be funny, so I'm not hurt that you didn't find me funny :D

Re: Plattsburgh State 2010

and with that...back to the hockey, shall we? i think we should all just kinda calm down on here...myself included.

Re: Plattsburgh State 2010

Yup...ya'll better calm down as the elitist's will be reading this thread after they push back from the trough....any more ot that kind of foolishness and you might get yourselves banned.

BTW Trot's...probably dating myself here but I got the "Done like Dinner" quote and it kinda brought a smile to my face.
