Re: PC Hockey.....continues to grow
I agree. I think potentially we could have a big season. You saw baby steps last year.
To get there I think there are 3 keys. 1) Schaller has to remain healthy all year 2) Gillies has to step up and show why he is the 4th highest draft pick coming into Hockey East this fall. 3)Either Adams decides it is time to prove something or Gilmour needs to show why Leaman gave him as much of a scholarship as he did, but we need one to step into the final defense spot and push the others.
The biggest drawback is I think we need to be strong defensively and very possibly that is where our youth is going to be. In goal it is 3 freshman with Gillies the prime prospect and defensively its possible a big role not just for Gilmour but also Parisi. Our goals for and against numbers were roughly the opposite of Lowell's last year. They better than reversed the numbers from 2010-11. If the defense holds, I think the offense will show great strides this coming year. One big area we can close the gap is with a goaltender who doesn't get knocked out of the box because he is so off as much as Beaudry was. For all the very good games he had, he got pulled 6 times or roughly 1 in 6 games. the scores in those games were 34-8. we never had a chance in those games and that is giving away points.
Certainly we were a differnt team when Schaller dressed and very solid in the few games both he and Luke dressed and provided 3 lines with the potential to make something happen. Of the top 9 forwards we return 7 and missing just 14 goals from the 2 departed forwards. You have 7 or 8 options to replace those 2 and their goals. The trickle down affect to the 4th line should make them better. In fact my personal opinion is to ease Jankowski as one of the youngest players in the league into the college game I'd have him play his natural position of center and since I don't want to break up the top 3 (Schaller, Mauerman, Army) I'd let him center the 4the line.
Ahhhhhhhh I AM SO EXCITED!
