I don't care what the rule says or what the time on the clock said. Clean hit in my book. Boyle is a cry baby who couldn't take being hit. You're defending him because he plays for the Sharks.

And you spend any time you're on this board starting arguments with me because Thornton got traded to the Sharks. Your point?

And you're slagging him because he plays for Canada.

Just pointing out that the bias runs both ways.

My point? I'm talking about an incident that just happened. Haven't seen anything mentioned about Joe Thornton being traded.

I would "slag" any player who slew foots the opponent after taking a clean hit, regardless of country. Thanks for policing though.

I think both Semin and Volchenkov would have found themselves in fights if this was a regular NHL game. By the definition of the rule, Semin boarded him, and in a 4 goal game with a minute and a half left, drilling someone that hard, clean or no, usually starts a scrum in a situation where fighting wouldn't automatically suspend you.

so why at the start of his shift there, with a 4 goal lead, did boyle go to the front of the russian net and slash markov?

Your first post in this thread tonight was asking me if Thornton was on team Canada. Either you're an idiot who hasn't watched any hockey before tonight or

The NHL sized rinks really plays to the Canadians (and the US' to some extent) strength. You get a bunch of Europeans on the ice and the physical game disappears but play the game on the ocean and the Canadian physical game is negated to a certain degree.

One of the German bobsled teams just flipped their bobsled in a turn, sliding the rest of the track on its side with one rider, the other fell out soon after it tipped. It looks like both women are alright.

The reason I brought him up this time is because after the US game, some Canadian journalist was hammering him for not showing up in big games--again. His name escapes me right now, but they brought it up on WEEI.

Yeah, he's going to remember that this was Micheletti and take it out on the Rangers next time the Caps play them, I just know it.

I don't think Milbury knows what the word "intimidated" means. Does he know that "intimidated" and "outplayed" are separate things?

"You use this word; I'm not thinking you know what this word means"

"Inconceivable!"

:p ;)

No goals yet but this would appear to be a more even matchup than today's first two games.

Russians get taken to the woodshed tonight by Canada. What a time for the Russians to reinforce the soft European pantywaist sterotype not being able to hang with the North American style of play. Russia threw in the towel after 2 periods. The Swiss played harder than Russia in this tournament.
