It's already paying off for them as China is ranked 7th in the world and obviously has some talent on their roster. In another Olympics or two, they'll be challenging for medals.

There are currently 800,000 speakers of Chinese languages in Canada. At some point some of these people or their hockey playing descendants will be selected for the ancestral motherland's national team and China should be able to at least compete on the world stage in the same way Italy fields a passable baseball team.

Eh. Not all Italian baseball players are Italian-Americans. Italy has one of the best European baseball leagues thanks largely to American soldiers playing the game during their occupation of the country, which lasted a good three years. Not surprisingly, the best team in Italy is from Nettuno, near the Anzio beach.

Lysacek skates well. Assuming the Russian does too, will his "quad" win the gold medal? Because Lysacek didn't do one.

The Chinese hockey and Italian baseball thing reminds me of the "Germany" little league team that doublefists the rest of Europe every year.

Huh, Gopher squeakyshoe beat #16 Wisconsin. I would feel pretty good if I gave a hell about that, I suppose.

Gotcha, but their Olympic and World Baseball Classic Rosters were 50-70 percent American it seems depending on the year, but yeah they dominate the continent along with the Netherlands, low bar that it is.

The WBC roster defined Italian as anybody who had once heard of spaghetti so lets not take that too seriously.

Thanks for keeping me in the dark. BTW as a little kid we were in the UP on vacation, and I remember we went through the city "where they filmed Anatomy of a Murder." Didn't mean much to me then but does now. Just remember Jimmy Stewart with 600 pounds of perch in his freezer!

My wife got us tickets for the hoops game for Valentine's day, which meant I was able to successfully avoid tonights the NBC love fest of the faulty Y Chromosomes on ice. ;) :D :cool:

Michigamme - the restaurant/tourist trap is still standing.

That movie was on (I think) TCM a few weeks ago. I saw the last half of it.

If Russia doesn't win in 3, just let Ovechkin go over and over. He'll eventually win it.

You have to be glad the Americans won both their first two in regulation after these last two games.
