Paris Olympics

I was also surprised to learn the Olympics has a smaller roster size than the World Cup, even though the Olympics have less rest in between games.

Interesting show. Kind of hard to figure out what to focus on, given that it's so spread out with so many things going on. But that's very French, that's for sure.

As I watch this show, and how NBC is covering it, I get thankfully reminded that we live close enough to Canada to watch CBC. There is a whole segment of the show that mbc isn’t covering at the end. This is just after the athletes finish.

Seriously. It was a beautiful moment, spoiled by those network morons.

Just give me the ambient sounds without the derp.

She ruined Gojira.

then Peyton with his stupid wrist joke. Just bad jokes. All the while they're doing half pipes in the Seine.

This is the most radical and avant garde opening ceremony I've seen. A perfect blend of new, old, inclusive, deeply reverential to French culture.

A+.

Could you imagine a potential Trump speech welcoming the world to LA in 2028?

The later show was edited and covered a little better than live. Except for this end part- they kept all of the "U-S-A" chanting, and left out the end of the show with a cool dance off as well as the end of the fashion show. Both of which added a lot of different people to the show. Oh, well.

Oh and they did edit a lot. Which actually was a good thing- there was some really, really long coverage of one thing that really didn't need that much time to get from A to B. One thing we got out of this was that you could tell that they were not able to run through this show, which showed up in some blocking and timing of the presentation. Not that I blame them, as the show Paris put on was really awesome- moreso when it was the first run of the whole thing, and much of the bigger parts were never rehearsed.

I appreciate Serena and all. But isn’t there a
better summer Olympiad who is more Olympic than pro legend? Nadia got the first 10. Carl matched the great Jessie Owens with 4 T&F golds in one games. Serena won some golds. Then again, Rafa?

Some grimacing about the Tonga flag guy not being the Tonga flag guy this time around. I’m straight, but I get it.

He did carry the torch at some point, but he did so with a shirt on.
