Paris Olympics

They mentioned on the evening replay that the US request to review was 4 seconds late. Meaning they *should* have denied the review in the first place.

Just helps me not take the judged events too seriously.

Even dumber: you get 4 minutes to request a review unless you're last to go. Then you get 1. The hell?

Judged events are crooked and absolute nonsense. Swimming and track FTW.

34 medals for the US in track and field. In the running events the US men medaled in every event except the 800m (where the top American broke the American record while finishing 4th) and the Marathon (where the Americans finished 8th and 9th). Quite the turnaround from Tokyo where the men didn’t win any individual gold medals.

Shoutout to Grant Fisher for winning bronze in both the 5000m and 10000m, his 10000m medal being credited by many other American runners as setting the tone for everyone else.

So Jordan Chiles now has to give the medal back. What a mess. This is all a judging issue IMO. They judged her wrong initially. They realized their mistake, corrected it, she moved into third. I think they judged the Romanian incorrectly as well. Nadia Comaneci pushed for a review of her routine (she was dinged for stepping out and it appears she did not). And this four seconds late is so ridiculous. They should just give them both a medal. I hate the story of they wanted an All Black podium was the reason for giving Jordan the medal.

I wonder how a US handball team would do if you took the next 12 guys from the NBA who didn't make the basketball team. In a way it's just swinging the ball along the perimeter waiting for an iso drive, and all those guys can jump insane distances inside the 7m line.

No opinion about that what so ever. That's fact.

First, the judges are the ones who originally missed Chiles' moves to get the points. Then they mess up and accepted the late change. And now, instead of doing what the original impacted player's team suggested to award both bronzes, they can't accept they made multiple mistakes. Let alone if the idea that the last event only gets one min to challenge when every other get 4. That's absurd.

What a clown show.

The only reason I watched gymnastics this year is to see what Biles would do, because she does so much more than anyone else. If anything toward the organization- thank god they changed the rules to add degree of difficulty in to the score- so that we get to see athletes willing to take chances on spectacular moves.

But at some point, it may become every one doing the one big trick over an over again- which is why I don't find any of the judged X games entertaining. Or diving- since they all do the same thing. And the announcers don't bother to point out why someone is better than the other.

Or worse when they question the judging. Sounds like a lot of people were unhappy with the boys break outcome because of that.

One more rant- refs also make game hard, too- that final between Brazil and US had some really questionable calls. But players seem more used to it than the fans, and they know they occasionally beat the refs as well as the other team. Still better to watch team handball than diving.

Probably as well as if Ruby 7s was filled with NFL players who barely missed a roster. Couple of running backs, couple of line backers, or maybe a bunch of bigger corners. Speed and power for the win.

Think that half set women's basketball back about a decade

As it should. Poor passing and giving up 2nd and 3rd chances on D isn't going to work when you are not hitting shots.

2 min into the 3rd quarter, and they have not scored vs. France's 8. This should take the WNBA stars down a few steps, especially when this team got beat by the players who didn't make this team.

We will see- long way to go.

This coaching makes no sense. Zero lineup changes, barely getting Griner minutes even though she was open on the post-up every possession she was in.

25 minutes to get Ionescu in and ball movement immediately improves.

Helps some, but they don't help each other out. Just a sloppy game to end this tournament for both sides.

And why isn't Griner in the game? It's almost an auto 2 every time. Instead they have to rely on circus shots.

She's been getting 15-20 minutes a game before today. And now the most physical team they've faced she only gets 4 minutes.
