Paris Olympics

I liked the idea of breaking at the Olympics, but the way they did it was lame.

I watched only the gold medal dance-off and since it's the Olympics I'm now an expert, so I was really surprised the Japanese girl won it. I thought the difficulty of the moves for the Lithuanian was much better. The announcers here were raving about the gold-medal winner's moves and I just didn't really see them as that great.

US has had a couple chances but so far Brazil has been excellent on the counter and had even better chances. Put the ball in once but was offside by a shoulder, a VAR review that they let go but could have been a chance for a penalty, and a couple huge saves by Naeher. 0-0 at half.

So watching this game, they are making a reasonable big deal about fitness and how Brazil has spread out their players better.

It’s curious to me that Brazil is stopping the game pretty often with penalty “injuries”. As far as I can tell, this is a very normal part of the game, so I’m not whining about that. But if Brazil is in better shape, why are they letting the US team get rest so often?

They said at the beginning that time wasting has been Brazil's strategy this tournament. Granted, they've done that after scoring early. Brazil pushed hard in the first half and it seems they burned energy given they've been much more vulnerable this half. They may be spreading players out more but this game appears to have burned them out more than the others.

Interesting. Foudy was making this an issue two games ago, and it seemed like a good thing to attack. Alas, they are doing others things to attack.

Jordan chiles bronze medal may be taken away in floor exercise. The Romanian girls protested and CAS has downgraded Jordan’s score

not sure if all 3 girls get bronze or what, so stupid

What a day on the track today. Some fantastic races. Does Quincy WIlson get a gold too since he ran in the opening round?

Edit: Yes he does. The youngest American male to not only medal, but run in an Olympic race.

The handoffs compared to Mens 100 night and day, womens 400 relay another gold
Alyson Felix had an interview where she described the differences in the two and the 4x400 handoffs are significantly easier because of the speed involved.

US Women’s 4x400 breaks the American record set back in 1988. They were .10 from tying the world record set by the Soviets at the same Olympics.
