Paris Olympics

Alyson Felix had an interview where she described the differences in the two and the 4x400 handoffs are significantly easier because of the speed involved.
Perhaps it’s harder than the women, but it’s not harder compared to other countries. Especially Jamaica for the last decade. Reason, but not excuse.

I watched only the gold medal dance-off and since it's the Olympics I'm now an expert, so I was really surprised the Japanese girl won it. I thought the difficulty of the moves for the Lithuanian was much better. The announcers here were raving about the gold-medal winner's moves and I just didn't really see them as that great.

I felt the same way, so now two experts agree. Though I'll say the Lithuanian was much less fun to watch, so maybe there is an artistic component, like figure skating, and the Japanese b-girl (that cracks me up as a 50s noir fan) cleaned up there. The other thing is maybe there are compulsory figures and there was a big difference.

It’s apparently the format of the “federation” or whatever for breakdancing, versus having specific benchmarks to hit on skills like gymnastics or diving.

The IOC put the ballroom dance committee in charge of breaking. How do you do, fellow gangstas?

And I thought satire died when Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Jordan chiles bronze medal may be taken away in floor exercise. The Romanian girls protested and CAS has downgraded Jordan’s score

not sure if all 3 girls get bronze or what, so stupid

CAS didn’t do anything with the score. They ruled the USA appeal was not lodged in time, but bounced the ultimate decision on what to do about it to the gymnastics authority. They have not decided yet whether to change the score. Romania is proposing shared medals.

Odd, I saw a release with the time mention and the new lower score

So it sounds like everyone is punting on this issue. And we may have read articles at different time periods.

CAS wrote the original order should be restored, but it’s up to FIG. (That’s what I originally read.)

Now it states FIG did restore the order (probably what you read), but it’s up to the IOC to decide how the medals are to be distributed.

Like I said, everyone is punting.

The original appeal was four seconds too late. The whole thing is ridiculous.

They mentioned on the evening replay that the US request to review was 4 seconds late. Meaning they *should* have denied the review in the first place.

Just helps me not take the judged events too seriously.
