Paris Olympics

And the announcers should stop with the dominant talk and how great they played. That was as much luck to win as it was played. For supposedly having the best talent, they didn't exactly play to their pay.

So while the women’s VB team fell on their face, a women won gold in Omnium. Winning bb would tie gold medals.
Italy lost one set the entire tournament and lost no sets during the knockout rounds. The US women didn’t “fall on their face”, they lost to a buzzsaw.

Since the Atlanta games, the US is 115-1 in Olympic and World Cup play. Only loss was in the 2006 World Cup to Russia.
And that’s why they continue to bring the older players. Much like the women’s soccer team, they’ll continue to bring them until they’re absolutely forced not too. And even then it probably won’t happen right away.

So watching the marathon, just realized that we (wife and I) ran part of that course! We did the Paris-Versailles race back in 2009, and VERY much remember the really hard climb. Very cool.

There's your first problem.

All I have is what they tell me, I don't know the sport. If they hype them up that much, then the downfall is that much worse. Honestly, listening to them, I pretty much wanted the US teams to fail- they were terrible. So thanks to THEIR view of the game, the team fell on their face. Especially since Italy hasn't been good up until this year- and they pointed that out as opposed to them being so dominant.

If they don't want me to think they fell on their face, they need better announcers.

Ok, a new, and incredibly impressive accomplishment today- second women athlete ever to medal in the 5000m, 10,000m, AND the marathon in the same Olympics. Two bronzes and a gold.

Hard to fathom that much running at that kind of level that quickly.

And they were wrong. Italy came in as the number one ranked team in the world. They played a great match.

And at the end of the match, the announcers did start saying how great Italy is.

Thanks to their original stance, I didn't bother to watch the end. I tire of having my expectations raised because of what they tell me only to have them be so very wrong. Same thing happened for both mens and womens BB teams. And womens soccer. And some for mens.

I kind of get where kep comes from in his anti US stance for the games. Thankfully, there are a lot of other games to watch.

Could team USA have a more obnoxious outfit to wear? Terrible. Stereotypical in the worst of ways.

The funny thing is this is the oldest roster they've had in the last four Olympic cycles, the only one over 30 years old, and it's entirely because of Taurasi. Replace her with Clark or Ogunbowale and it becomes the 2nd youngest.
