Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Monday isn't too early for a prediction is it?

Oswego 3
Plattsburgh 2

Overtime shorthanded winner by who?

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

I like the sarcasm, I am thinking KGT seals it with an eng to make it 4-2

Hahaha...Oswego winning it by more than a one goal margin seems right though - the Cards would push hard for the tying goal, and it may carry them off the line. If I were to guess who puts in an ENG or the OT winner though, it would be Musselwhite.

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

when was the last time you saw a goalie get an ENG in hockey??? let alone in DIII.....

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

I figure its such a rare occurrence that it might as well happen in the most lopsided "rivalry" in hockey

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

And (since its the whiteout thread) the OSU Whiteout movie's still up on YT ;) - contemplating contacting Gosek again about that showing on the CC screen prior to ice, but it's probably a pipedream at this point.

Gosek has nothing to do with that. It's CTS and the Athletic Department. Good luck - getting them to show snippets of WTOP's broadcast was like pulling teeth and they only did it when they wanted to, not when we politely asked them to.

Yeah snippets with no sound.

How useful is that?

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Screw the movie - how about organized, energized, out-of-your-freakin' mind mayhem? If you want to watch tv, stay home and pop some corn...

Romney didn't have a tv...didn't need one...I'm not driving 5 hours to watch the student section watch tv...

And I love tv, as most of you know.

Ehhh...already been through WTOP. Still photos don't translate well to broadcast was what they said, and to "contact the coach" . You're probably right though - no dice. Come to think of it, I don't recall a movie playing last year for that matter anyway.

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

In case anyone is interested at having a laugh at the headman of the #2 team in the land, Deadspin had an interesting story posted this afternoon in what it calls the "A-Hole Coach Digest" - telling the supposed story of the origins of heat between Mike McShane and Bill Beaney.

Here's the link - second story down:

http://deadspin.com/5456588/a+hole-...-feud-edition?skyline=true&s=i&**************

Here's the text - from what is known as A-Hole Coach Digest.

Sotheby:

The two most successful D-III hockey coaches of the last 20 years, who coach at colleges 70 miles apart in Vermont, have had a personal feud that goes back almost 40 years to their time at UNH. The story is that Mike McShane, who was and is known as a bit of a (colorful metaphor deleted), decided to prank the newest hotshot member of the ‘70-‘71 Wildcat hockey team, a sophomore (remember, this was when freshman weren't allowed to play varsity) named Bill Beaney.

Instead of the regular hazing rituals, such as itch powder in the jock or tape on the bottom of the skate blades, McShane decided to leave a particularly nefarious and highly unsanitary joke; he took a ____ in Beaney's skates. The next day at practice Beaney loaded his bare toes into the front of his skate, only to have his digits greeted by the stinky deposit, and a Duellists-level obsession began.

To this day, through something like 70 matches against each other over the years, they continue to skip the customary post-game hand shake.

Gosek had his video guy putting together something to air because apparently now HE wants a video to air before the team enters and I'm assuming has told CTS this... he has more pull than we give him credit for. I told him we were also looking to make something to air before our broadcast to replace the Jay Siegel intro. We have started it and hope to have it done by Friday. At which point there will be two versions... the one to air in the arena and the one to air on WTOP. Obviously I'm hoping to have it all done by Friday so those of you planning to be at the game on Saturday will (hopefully) see it as well. And Lou, it's only a 1:30 and should garner more cheers so it's not just the student section watching TV
