Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

welcome to your first whiteout, people will be lucky if there are still tickets come 2pm
We just got our tix, we were in line for an hour and a half. There was still about 300+ in line. Their also letting students buy pretty much as many extra tix as they would like, the kid in front of me bought 5 on top of his free one so I wouldn't be suprised if they sell out by the end of the day.

B) Pressure? Plattsburgh is not the team who has yet to beat the other team in 5 consecutive games in their "home" rink. Pressure of being #1. Pressure of winning out the SUNYAC. Pressure of maintaining home ice advantage. Finally, pressure of not Tanking it once again. ;)

The only way Platty has a little pressure on them is if they take an L in Cortland on Friday (which I don't expect them to).

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Tickets went on sale roughly 30 minutes ago to the student body and there is a line wrapping around the CC stairs.

It's always like that. Student tickets usually do last until past Monday though, but never past Wednesday.

Last year the student line was all the way back to the smoothie shop as they waited to get into the arena before the game started. People were pumped and we got some great footage for the beginning of the broadcast on WTOP. Sounds like we can expect more of the same this time around especially considering how well the Lakers have played thus far.

Just a snapshot of the line waiting to get tickets from the Director of Public Affairs at Oswego... This is already maybe 20 feet from the ticket counter.

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Real, live students lined up to buy hockey tickets...so THAT'S what it looks like (and as a Plattsburgh fan, I'm honestly not being sarcastic in the least here)...

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

It's either that or go to the first day of classes...clearly they are making the smart choice....

THIS.

Anyways, I'm sure the professors are understanding :D I wish I could go, but I got a family reunion that weekend. (**** my fiance's family.) I was lucky enough to where I didn't have to buy a ticket because I got to cover the games. It's always refreshing to see actual students coming to a game. Going to a game at Platty is like going to Wimbledon.

I walked by the box office at 8:30 and no one was in line... your source is a liar! :p

I also am less concerned about Potsdam than in previous years... yes, last year the Potsdam game, you could tell it meant very little to the guys playing. This year, there are many players that are still trying to prove themselves so they will still be skating hard no matter what. KNOCK ON WOOD, but I've been saying it for a while, I don't see much of anything derailing this train.

Agreed, baring an all out collaspe, Potsdam shouldn't concern. The Fredonia game was the one that could of snuck up on us while we were eyeing the arrival of the Red Menace. Thankfully the Lakers took care of business.

While I'm sure the team is well aware of the history between these two, especially the winless streak at home, since a vast majority of the team has only played Plattsburgh once (and won :D) they will feel a lot less pressure to win Saturday night than Levy, McLaughlin, etc did. This year's team, I'm guessing, won't lose much focus on Potsdam Friday night.

i talked with the kid right after we got out of our hockey class and he said he was there since around 8 ish to 8:30
.... i didnt get to check it out to to confirm it

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

-----------------------------------------------------------------I think I really like that attitude.

No disrespect to Plattsburgh intended. Simply saying Potsdam worries me more as far as motivation and the fact Oswego might overlook the Bears. Your beloved Cardinals overlooked Potsdam and look what happened.

Potsdam is not a bad hockey team and if Oswego doesn't show up...they WILL lose points. I have no question the Lakers will be motivated for the Plattsburgh game. I do hope they finally break the home losing streak against the Cards.

Conn College game?

This team isn't invincible guys. They are good. Very good. But let's not count our chickens before they hatch. They haven't clinched or won anything yet. Oswego's last big bunch of freshmen (The 2009 senior class) got off to a very hot start their first years too. Granted, this start has been better but don't forget this team is still very very young and could be subject to a couple brain farts at anytime.

Re: Oswego vs Plattsburgh "The Whiteout game"

Alright, alright - I don't know about what Joe said about the 8:30 people, but regardless, I testify getting there at 9:05 this morning. 13 people were there already, and as hardcore a fan I might be, 8:30 was inefficient as far as when the line finally started building. Ticket counter opens @ 10:00, snag the goods, and still made first class by 10:20. Classy

And (since its the whiteout thread) the OSU Whiteout movie's still up on YT ;) - contemplating contacting Gosek again about that showing on the CC screen prior to ice, but it's probably a pipedream at this point.
