Oswego State Lakers.. 2021-2022...Let's get ready to...???

Congrats to Green for his first shutout. Lakers better find someone with a scoring touch, besides Broughman and D'Carlo like yesterday. Who ever we play in the tourney just needs to shut down those 2 and then they have a great chance to win. Not a great win against Buff St. Only 1 goal through 58 minutes with 50+ shots on goal. Not good. Gotta give credit to Buff. St's goalie. He only had 4-6 tough saves to make and he played really really good. Thought is was a bit cheesy that the Lakers scored with 12 seconds or so left in the game. Win with class and loose with class.

Agreed- ugly weekend "propelling" us into the playoffs? Pretty much a no-show against Freddy- until the last period when it was too little too late. And the whole game looked pretty dismal last night against 3-12 Buff State. Clinging to 1-0 until a few minutes left when we score 5 on 3 after the Bengals imploded. 2 power play goals!? If you say so...

Once again we seemed to play down to lesser competition (although Fredonia could be a spoiler in the playoffs). So we're at risk against lesser competition, and we haven't beat a good team all year- where does that leave us? (well, it leaves us 12-3-1 and leading the SUNYAC???), at least temporarily. If we had showed up in Fredonia we could have clinched home ice.

Strange year. The coaches built a winning team out of a bunch of guys most of whom had never played together. "Maybe next year?" But we do need to find some goal scorers.

Couldn't see either game, did Coach pull Koz after the Fredonia crap show (5 goals on 13 shots) and insert Green for Buff State? Coach has done it before. I'm going to say whoever has the best practice gets the next start.

Koz will get the nod. Didn't see the Frddy game, but dought it was all Koz's fault. Koz has been good all year and not the time to change goalies. My bigger concern is the lack of overall scoring and our Charmin soft PPK. Doesn't matter who we play now just play your A game and we can play with anyone. The key is getting the A game and not playing stupid in the last minute of each period!!!

Koz got pulled during the Freddy game- and then didn't play in the Buff State game. You know Coach's goaltender rule: "What have you done for me lately?".

I watched the Fredonia came- on the fuzzy feed. I think two were tips and one we put in ourselves (a la Geneseo).

Missed the whole weekend, volleyball in DC......From what I have read, not a good weekend going in the payoffs....That said its one and done, which could be good for us and our lack of Offense,as playoffs tend to favor good defensive teams, and I am also lookin on the bright side. ;-))....Yes the do whatever you want PK is troubling to me, most at the D3 level don't have the mitts to deal with at least semi-pressure by the PK team...Netminding will have to be stellar and a bounce here or there would be nice.......IF,if we play Jenny in the BIG SHOW we can fall back on the "It's hard to beat a team 3 times"...or not....GOLAKERS!!!!!

1st round this Sat the 26th, Lakers get one of the winners next Weds the 2nd, on home ice.

Genny finishes up with Buff St. tomorrow. [Edit: Cancelled??]

Saturday it's Brockport @ Platty and Fredonia @ Cortland. Next Saturday we get the higher remaining seed and Genny the lower of the two.

Oswego’s given up 2 power play goals all year… that’s not their problem.

Penalty Kill: 81/83= 97.6%

YIKES!

And here I've been bitchin all year about them hanging low and not coming out to pressure the points on the PK. Doh! Looks like "someone" knows what they're doing!

I stand corrected, but I still don't like it. ;-))....and special teams has always been a soft spot lately in the playoffs...Go Lakers!!

Unfortunately that number is incorrect. The NCAA Division III stats database has been incorrectly computing penalty kill stats the entire season. Oswego State is 69-for-81 (85.2 %) on the PK this year.

Another reason why losing CHS has hurt this level. None of the penalty kill stats on the NCAA Division III stats page are computing correctly I believe. My guess is, there are issues between the NCAA's stats system and people scoring games in prestostats/statcrew and NCAA Live Stats.

Well that makes more sense. 97.6% is just crazy. Has anyone even come close to that?

One thing for sure, we sorta suck this year, but i have hope, Go Lakers.

Well it's not the old Oswego that we are used to thats for sure but they still had a pretty good season, didn't do well vs.ranked teams but did what they had to do to get a good look at the playoffs, both SUNYAC and NCAA???...Goalscoring is down, thats a concern, wait and see what the playoffs bring, should be a good one....Go Lakers!!!

Very interesting fact relative to the PP stats for Oz. YTD 23-101 = .22%. In comparison, the team has 19 penalties when on the PP during the season. Do you think the staff is even aware of this? I firmly believe the only way they make the NCAA's is to win out, which is very difficult if Genny is healthy and Cmunt is back.
