Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close 1st

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

Would I be the only one feeling better if Gilbert led them out tomorrow night?

Gilbert's time will come. In the meantime, Hare is the best choice. Hare has played these playoff games before, he has the experience and the skill to get it done.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

The number of great games Hare has played this year far outweighs the poor ones. Plus, the last time these two played, Hare shut them out. You have to start him tomorrow night.
Not even a question

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

On a team where soft goals really seem to hurt their momentum and composure I think it is a question on whether Hare has what it takes to get it done. He seems to come up with a big save then right after give up a softie. He likes to be real busy (ex. the NCAA semi's last year) and with a team like Oswego you need to be able to go long stretches with no action and then be ready to make a big save on the rare chances that they give up. He hasn't really been able to do that but we also don't know if Gilbert can do it either. If Oswego can tighten up and not give up a lot of open looks then it won't matter who is in there but Andrew has to not give up a soft goal because they can really be killers in a tight game.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

The Lakers use to play Cancius before they went D1 and we stopped playing them due to an incident in the 86/87 or 87/88 season. Unger wanted nothing to do with them.

Unger must have forgiven them. Not only did we play them in 1991, we went to their season opening tourney (which we won beating Canisius and Mercyhurst).

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

nice win for the lakers, but not the greatest games in general, we took to many dumb penalties,we made way to many mistakes on the defensive end,bad clearing passes will kill us sooner or later not to mention Josepher getting beat a few times, he just doesnt seem to have what he had at the start of the yr?? Thought we would see King instead of Riviat?? Hare was very good, but again we have to clear the front of the net out better, hare was Harerassed:D,a ton, and ran into a few times, not good ...Ayotte needs to be disciplined, and he bailed on a few blocked shot attempts...Platty next hold on:D

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

While I'm happy that Oswego won tonight, I really didn't like what I saw tonight. Bad penalties, confused play, disorganization. There was a short time during the second period when everything started clicking for Oswego but before that and after that it seemed like Oswego was playing down to Buffalo.

In short, if the Oswego team I saw today is the same team that shows up next week for the Plattsburgh game, Oswego will lose that game. Period.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

Really I thought that even though the goals he gave up were a bit iffy, Hare was really the difference in the game. If his play tonight is what we can expect from here on out then I think the Lakers can get the elusive SUNYAC title and make some noise in the NCAA's. I am done saying they need to clean up the turnovers and the front of their own net because if it hasn't happened by now it probably isn't going to.

Some schools have no video highlight videos, we have two. You guys are so spoiled! ;)

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

Great highlights. I forgot how sweet of a goal Muise had. It was great to see Hare have a very solid game, and is heading into the toughest part of the playoffs with confidence. Defense will get a tune up this week, I like their chances.

couldnt agree more about the defensive turnovers,Buff st didnt take advantage of them, well one on the pp they did when carr couldnt clear, where we did score of some of theirs, if thats the case come sat vs. platty i have to agree with toto, that we will not win, as Platty will NOT make that many turnovers in their D end I promise, also think a few of our penalties took some momentum away from us when we were rocking and rolling, cant have that happen either,Platty scored twice yesterday vs Genny on the PP,so time to take the discipline up a notch boys. Hare was great, top 2 stars to him and 3rd to Muise....we need to get more aggressive on the penalty kill

Plattsburgh certainly gave Geneseo a lot of defensive-zone turnovers in the first period last night. I certainly hope they come out more focused against the Lakers next week!

For what it's worth, both of those PP goals came on one 5-minute major. But yeah, Oswego's downfall last week was a combination of Cadieux and penalties. Cadieux will still be there (whether he'll play as well as he did last week, only he knows, I guess), so it's up to Oswego to resolve the discipline issue. Regardless, I'm sure both teams will show up 110% focused and read to play. I'm looking forward to a great game!

watched both goals on the PP for platty, btwn oswegos periods, both goals they moved the puck well and took advantage of the 5 min major, which was to Schell of Genny, couldnt have happened to a chippier player, hes always played that way and cost his team BIG TIME,and hes the captain of the team, doesnt tell me much about their coach??? I could gaurentee Emery wouldnt put up with his $%#@

Well, my fears were groundless- at least this game. Hare made some brilliant "stand on head" saves and was plenty solid. I think he'd like to have the first one back, low on stick side, but he stuffed the breakaway and took a beating in the crease most of the evening. Buff was literally "crashing the net" most of the night, Hare's mask was knocked off at least once.

Big effort from the Bengals, they gave it all they had.

We took six penalties (is that 13 in two games??). A bunch of little cheapies- little holds, interferences, why?? Keep that up and we'll have a repeat of last weekend.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

The coming SUNYAC game will tell a lot about the winner. Plattsburgh has had Oswego's number all year, but they've had trouble converting the ability to beat Oswego into being able to beat other tough out-of-conference opponents like Norwich, Middlebury, Amherst, or Castleton. If Plattsburgh wins, I don't think they'll do particularly well in the NCAA's.
Oswego on the other hand has done pretty well out-of-conference, beating tough opponents like Hobart and Plymouth while only suffering losses to Utica. If they can pull off a win this Saturday, that probably means that Oswego has addressed some of the fundamental flaws that have been haunting them in games against Platty and Utica.

Even if Oswego wins the SUNYAC championship, beware. The road to the d3 championship for oswego likely lies through Utica. Oswego will have to exorcise the demons of both the teams it lost to this year in order to win it all. Kinda poetic actually.

Although I think it could also be Adrian that Oswego faces in the NCAA's...you aren't kidding about poetic if Oswego were to beat Plattsburgh, play Utica and then St. Norbert and Norwich as well in Placid....

Hare had to have a great game; he was getting zero help from his defenseman. As stated by the other posters, this cannot happen this sat if Oswego hopes to win.

Hey TOTO you haven't been watching D3 very long!!! Platty has a very storied history in the NCAA's and for you to say that Platty won't do well is just crazy. If there is one team in D III that I would bet the farm on every year to do very well to incluce the NCAA's is Platty. This is from a 25 + year Laker fan. Platty consistantly schedules one of the most toughest non conference schedule in the country and they usually win more than they loose and that is what makes them so mentally and tournment tough.
