Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close 1st

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

Regarding the "goal that wasn't" from the game last Saturday, I talked to some of the Oswego players that raised their hands in celebration. The basic consensus is that they saw Chewy catch the puck but they thought it was on the wrong side of the goal line. They were fairly confident that it passed over the goal line before landing in Chewy's glove. Whether it actually happened that way or not is hard to tell since the video available really isn't conclusive, but that's at least the explanation for why they started celebrating. I do know that the ref was on the opposite side of the goal and would've had a very hard time seeing whether the puck crossed the line or not. It's too bad there's no video review at this level. Might've changed the course of the game. Then again, might not have. It's killing me thinking it could've gone either way.

didnt see the game but after seeing the highlights......platty 1st goal a ppg,man our forward let the platty player walk right in???? he has to block that shot ,a la Docking, or make him pass, he walked right into the slot,bad....our dman MUST pick up and clear the front so hare can see the puck, looked like 2x he was screened, basic,if your a dman and dont have your stick between the forwards legs and driving from the front of the net its to late to try and do it when the puck is nearing the net....the no goal, looked like the platty players had that ow **** they scored posture, and the oz players thought it was in,wnyo annoucer said it was in ,dont know his vantage point....the ref was also in the corner NOt behind the net where I seem to see the NHL refs when this type of thing happens, but this is not the NHl, I know...the dman behind the net pass on the 4th platty goal ugh,he pretty much just fanned on the pass,it happens, but he has to get back and flatten that man in front....looks like some serious special teams play both good and bad on both teams, would love to see a 3rd game in a few weeks, who knows.........

Looking at the highlights at about the 1:50 mark you can see that there is an initial shot by leimbrock, then a secondary shot off the rebound by Titanic, then Titanic gets one more shot off the rebound as he's being taken down by a plattsburgh player. If you pause the screen there and see the trajectory of the puck and where Chewy is, it seems almost impossible that he would've caught the puck before it crossed the goal line. Then again, it wouldn't have been the most impressive save he made that game. It's a tough one.

I am not 100% certain of the incident you are referencing, but I was at the game and there were two times when I thought Oswego was going to score, but didn't. The first - and the most convincing - was called a "no goal" - without hesitation by the official - because the puck was caught by the goalie - it was clearly in his glove (by goalie skill, luck, fluke or divine intervention, I couldn't say). The second, a close in shot on a nearly empty net somehow ended up in the netting on the top of the goal, somehow it got deflected (or my telekinetic powers worked for a change).

Wass... my "vantage point" was one foot to the left of our video guy so what you see on video is what I saw. The reason I said the puck was in, was because of all the players around the net celebrating. I'm pretty certain that you guys have it right, Cadieux gloved it on the wrong side of the goal line, but no official was in position to see it. Tough break.

the problem with the puck in the glove across the line is that there has to be clear evidence that the puck fully crossed the line. I've seen it in NHL games where everyone would think that the puck was across the line but since it was in the glove and you couldn't see the actual puck it's not a goal. either way it was a great game from a fans standpoint, very exciting to watch, a lot of back and forth end to end hockey.

The save Cadieux made on Moodie ( I think) was nothing short of fantastic. I do not know how that could NOT have gone in. I also don't know how it ended up on top of the net! As soon as the pass came in front, I had the perfect angle to see a wide open net and he got good wood on the shot too! Unbelievable save.

...Or the Oswego players had no idea if the puck crossed the line or not, and celebrated assuming it passed the line on the odd chance the ref would make the call...like that's not happened before....great game, score remains the same - best be focused on Saturday...so you get to play the next Saturday...and a few more days after that... Two team goals remain to be achieved...:D:D

I hear ya but when I see this stuff happen in the NHL that ref is literally standing on the back of the net at times, and we also play the 2 ref system in the SUNYAC,as stated b4 I know this is not the NHL but just sayin,....well not a big deal, just passin time til the next game, should be interesting ...

I highly recommend you guys check out the box score for what just happened to Bowdoin tonight. I've never seen a top 10 team bowled over like that before in my life.

Oswego got bowled over by another top 10 team. That happens. But by an unranked team? To let in 10 goals? That's beyond ridiculous.

Trinity is NCAA ranked, and has been among the "others receiving votes" in at least one of the polls much of the season, so it isn't like Bowdoin was blown out by Tufts or Hamilton.

Maybe check their schedule before you say it's ridiculous. Trinity is ranked 11 (soon to be higher) by the NCAA and has quite a few more wins against ranked teams than Oswego does.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

I think Bowdoin was a victim of taking their foot off the gas in this game and got stomped by a team that is trying to pump up it's NCAA resume. They likely need to win the NESCAC to get in and a couple more wins against ranked teams would greatly help their seeding if they do get in, Bowdoin didn't seem to get that memo.

Re: Oswego State Laker Hockey 2012-13...Part 2..Because Norwich's thread didn't close

we should all be rooting for Geneseo this week, if they beat out Plattsburgh and make it to the SUNYAC finals I'm willing to bet they'll get ranked, would give us 2 more wins against ranked teams. hopefully 3 if we beat them in the finals, that would raise our rankings and give us better seeding in the NCAAs
