Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Any idea how many tickets will be available at 5:30? How early would you have to get there to make sure you didnt waste a 4+ hour drive?

I understand where you are coming from, I once went in circles with Oswego and George Roll back when they played in Romney, and they wouldn't sell any tickets except at the door. However, Romney had the capacity that made a sellout unlikely (maybe someone knows if it ever did - I never was turned away), unlike the new Stafford with its new, much to be desired, seating capacity.

Anyway, from my post on the Plattsburgh thread:

Note Emery also states that of the approximately 1924 available tickets, only 1100 were sold as season tickets, 50 are reserved for the opposing team and 300 are reserved for Plattsburgh State students, so 474 tickets (just slightly less than 25%) should be the minimum available at the box office at 5:30 on game nights (plus any student tickets not picked up).

On the plus side, you have an equal chance of getting a ticket, as the only ones available to anybody outside of the 300 reserved for Plattsburgh State students, will be those that go on-sale at 5:30. As for waiting in line, at least you won't have the 1100 faithful fans who bought season tickets to deal with.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Any analysis on either game from this weekend? I wasn't able to listen to either game and am wondering how the Lakers looked. From what I can tell, they easily handled Buff St. from the minute the puck dropped. Fredonia looks like it was much more back and forth and thanks to 4 goal explosion in the last 6 and half minutes, the Lakers are probably breathing a sigh of relief. As Derek said, there always seems to be some sort of a scare on the trip out west.

Does anyone know why Mather and Anderson have played so sparingly this year? Mather looked pretty good for a freshman down the stretch last year on that first line and Anderson played in 20 as a frosh. Those are two guys I wouldn't have expected to be out of the lineup as much as they have been after last year. Anything from Gosek (Student Media Members...)?

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I was wondering the same Andrew. Especially on Anderson.

I thought he was one of the most defensive defensemen Oswego had on their team last year and was rarely caught out of position or beaten by an opposing forward. He may not be the biggest guy or put up a lot of points but he does position himself well and usually makes good decisions with the puck.

Maybe something has changed since last year.

Also, interesting that Chamberlain played in only the Lakers fourth game of the season. I guess the rumored 10 game suspension didn't end up happening?

In review, I turned out to be dead on with the Selleck/Laganiere/Fox prediction. Five points from Selleck and Fox and three from Laganiere. I think its safe to say that line is going to need to produce for the Lakers to be successful.

They were invisible in the Elmira away game last saturday. The result? a 2-1 loss.

Hopefully they keep up the tremendous start this weekend with the trip to North Country. For christ's sake can we PLEASE end that 0-9-1 drought against Platty?!

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I think Anderson is hurt. Not 100% sure but i think its a shoulder issue

After the Fredonia game I saw him come back in a sling and he said that he got hit earlier. I think it was either the Buff St. game or maybe the second Elmira game. He declined an answer as to whether he hit him back. :p

I dont remember Anderson being out there in the 2nd Elmira game...He might have been...But I dont remember seeing him.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

So it sounds like Anderson is hurt. JMD, ask coach about Mather next time you see him.

EDIT: Any update on how Tim Potter performed last week for the Condors? Also, did I see the Lakers wearing their home uniforms on the road against Elmira on 2 saturdays ago?

Plattsburgh-Oswego game will be video streamed online http://www.oswego.edu/athletics/news_story.html?id=8747

He has been on the roster for three games but no ice time yet.

No. That was the only relevant photo I could find from last season. They debuted their new roads which looked pretty sweet on the video web cast.

That is awesome. It's curious to me that they will stream a road game before other home games. Not that I'm complaining - it's sure to be one of the best games of the season for the Lakers. Just want more coverage in general as I'm sure we all do.

Have the problems with WNYO's road coverage been worked out? I saw on the thread Saturday night there wasn't a broadcast but may have missed the reason why.

I'm wondering if it was the old "costs" problem we used to have with traveling to Fredonia/Buff State. Buff State was OK with us going there and didn't charge us anything for use of their phone lines, but Fredonia was notorious for being huge dicks and would charge a $250 fee to use their phone line for broadcasts. We would never make the road trip because going to just one of those sites wasn't worth it if we weren't doing both and our funding was always crap so doing road trips was trickier.

I hope this issue hasn't come up again.

It's Primelink's site streaming the video. Primelink also sponsors Behind the Bench with Bob Emery and the regular season tournament that Plattsburgh participates in every year.

Oswego State only issued a press release to announce the coverage to the fans, they don't have anything to do with web casting the game.

AMEN TO THAT!!!!!!!

Gotcha. I figured the school didn't have anything to do with the actual coverage, but I thought, at first glance, they were involved with the partnering. After reading it again, I see they don't have anything to do with the coverage at all (shocking that the Oswego Athletic Department wouldn't go out of their way to have more coverage for the only sport that is relevant there)

The new roads are nice. Very crisp and the white lettering instead of the yellow is awesome. Makes them very sharp.

I still want to see a uniform with the old anchor on it for an alternate. They gotta bring it back!

That'd be showing too much favoritism to the hockey team Andrew as I've been told.

It's the only consistently good program and A LOT of the school's focus, concentration, and resources go into it. But, can't go TOO far because then we wouldnt be giving all the other program's their due.

It's almost like they like to walk a tight line on the subject. We'll build this team a brand new hockey rink and have a $1 million scoreboard and then put power point on it because putting something actually worthwhile would be devoting too much time to the hockey team:rolleyes:

I was at the Islanders/Rangers game last wednesday and they had a scoreboard that's probably from their Core of the 4 days. However, it didnt stop them from streaming a pre-game show on the video board giving fans updates on the status of players as well as keys to the game for each team.

My junior year I suggested that Oswego put the WTOP pre-game show on the scoreboard for pre-game as well as come up with a video introduction to have for the guys before they came out onto the ice.

The first one was done a couple of times I noticed. However, they put it on the videoboard with no sound. Now what good is it doing everyone at the rink to see three or four guys on the videoboard without any sound?

Sorry Oswego State, we're not that good of lip readers.

The second idea has never been done and it's sad. Turn down the lights and play something like this on the board:

Get the crowd into it and create some freaking atmosphere in that $30 million Campus Center!

I think we were just having a problem connecting with the studio on campus.

We should have full coverage of both games this weekend.

Let me just say that the first idea would be fantastic and like you said, its been done but muted. Fail. The second idea, I was approached by coach Gosek about this very thing. For more details on the whereabouts, I am more than willing to discuss this, just not here.....
