Last time I checked, the '10 Elmira team was not the 'any year Middlebury team. And last time I checked, there were 24 more games left.

Clearly. But it's a big win the young class can, hopefully, gain some confidence from.

Well yes, of course. But that's no reason to start mentioning national championships and beating a team on par to middlebury in a title game.

Just being optimistic. Is it foolish? Of course. But I was (unfortunately) raised a Bills fan and get overly excited about things. I know, we are some of the more pathetic creatures in the sports realm.

Good to see we're getting some of the hyperbole out of the way early here.

7-2 against a good team is a hell of a way to start the season, hopefully they can punk them out again.

Furthest down I've seen this thread in a while. Time to knock it up.

Lakers continue their 6 game road trip and start SUNYAC play this weekend. Buff St. tied and got drubbed by Hobart last weekend. Fredonia easily handled Leb Valley, the only team guaranteed to finish below .500 in the ECAC-W.

Do the Lakers go to 3-1 without even thinking about it? Which team poses the biggest problem? And someone remind me, has Buff St. ever beaten the Lakers?

Unless he's McLaughlining me, of the 15 Lakers who left the program last season, the only one to make the ECHL is....

After what McLaughlin put me through earlier this month, I don't dare believe it. That was the message, you decide if he's serious. Name not yet on the Bakersfield website.

I wouldnt say 3-1 without even thinking about it, even though I do think the Lakers should take both games if they play up to their potential.

This western NY swing usually always seems to give the Lakers some sort of fit whether it be close games, losses or ties that probably could have been avoided.

I think Buffalo State and Fredonia are improving programs that if looked over, can definitely bite ya in the butt. Just two years ago, the Lakers needed two goals in the last two minutes of the game to keep their Buff State unbeaten streak alive.

Fredonia can be a tough place to play with how small it is and their band playing. It will easily be the toughest away crowd the Lakers will see until Utica and Plattsburgh IMHO and with how many young guys they have, they could get rattled if they aren't focused.

I'll be interested to see if Gosek goes with Beckwith in both games or if he gives Kyle Gunn-Taylor a start. I'd love to see Kyle get the start against his former team in Buff State at their rink.

I have a feeling the Fox/Selleck/Laganiere line should put up good numbers this weekend.

We'll see in a few days but I'm definitely not penciling in four points yet for the Lakers.

I think it would be cool to see KGT start too. Like when Geneseo started Gershon against the Lakers at the CC last season. I know it was mentioned that Gershon had been recruited by Oswego and Geneseo wanted to start him to show what the Lakers missed out on - it certainly worked as he had a big game. Altho, Oswego isn't an underdog coming into this game, and I still maintain the reason the Lakers lost had something to do with letting my color guy call the play-by-play for that game WTOP :)

Good point with the Fox/Selleck/Lags line. If the Buff St D plays swiss cheese style defense, they could be looking at putting up more than the 10 pts they did against Elmira in game one last weekend. Then again, maybe Fritch will steal another one away since he is one of the best goaltenders in the SUNYAC, and maybe all of D-III :p

Potter joins Bakersfield

Finally spoke with Potter, he thinks he'll be with Bakersfield until J-S Giguere is back with Anaheim. Hopefully he gets a crack between the pipes before then. The only other goalie on the Condors roster has brutal numbers, but in only 100 minutes. One of the current Lakers pointed out to me that there are only two players who recently suited up for Oswego State that are now playing pro. Both were cut by the Lakers (Varone/Potter).

Account finally activated!

Hey guys, I'm doing the play by play for home games on WNYO. I called Friday's game not Saturday's - I was in studio for the pregame/intermissions/postgame on Saturday. Sorry again for the technical difficulties we had with that. The problem was actually on their end at the arena in Elmira.

Thanks for listening... it's a shame we have to wait almost 3 more weeks for another home game...

I would like it if they finally brought back the anchor for the alternates some day.

There are probably no new alternates this year because they bought new road jerseys and had to buy a ton of new home jerseys for all the new faces this year.
