Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

When I went in 2008, we stayed at the Best Western, which is just on the edge of town. It was very nice and is probably a bit cheaper than the places that are right in town.

It's only a short 3-5 minute car ride to the rink. If there are any rooms left i would definitely recommend staying there unless you're looking to booze heavily at the local bars and then you might not want to make such a long trek back to the hotel each night.

If you stay near the rink at the hotels right there, it will be more expensive, but it will just a short trip up the hill to your hotel each night from the main drag in town.

The tough thing with a bunch of these hotels I'm finding is that many of the local ones in town seem to have a cancellation policy of 7 or more days. Considering the NCAA QFs are 6 days before the Frozen Four, that makes it tricky. Be forewarned.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

On a side note from the upcoming post season I've been curious lately. With the Lakers currently on a 21 game winning streak, does anyone know what the DIII record for the longest streak is?

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Nice video, and I can't wait to get up there from New York for that game.

I do have a question to the Laker Community - there have been 3 "Whiteout" games against Plattsburgh in the new barn. Oswego has not won any of them. Don't we think the Sports Gods are telling us something?? Perhaps a change in karma is in order??? Someone wanna quickly switch that to a "Green-Out" instead?

Just sayin'...

Here's the evidence.

And Greene's should get in on that one - "Wear your green, get discount".

...and Windows 7 was your idea....

I'm a Mac guy, actually. But you too can obtain my superior prognostication skills...just head to your nearest Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, Target, Walgreens, etc., hit the toy section, and pick up for yourself the Magic 8 Ball!:D

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Apologies for the pc insult... I'm a mac

A win would be nice tonight, but more important to get out healthy and playoff ready...

Nice job by the radio guys last night... Looking forward to WTOP online for the next home contest...

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I haven't been on the boards much this season, so this was probably already brought up and I missed it. But has any team ever run the table in the SUNYAC?

From the Whiteout game thread:

Conference (SUNYAC) wise, Plattsburgh has three "Perfect Seasons":
1977-78
Coach: Lou Frigon
10-0 SUNYAC

1978-79
Coach: Lou Frigon
12-0 SUNYAC

1986-87
Coach: Steve Hoar
12-0 SUNYAC

Emery has not had one, but does have Four "Undefeated Seasons":
1992-93
Coach: Bob Emery
11-0-1 SUNYAC

1998-99
Coach: Bob Emery
13-0-1 SUNYAC

1999-2000
Coach: Bob Emery
13-0-1 SUNYAC

2003-04
Coach: Bob Emery
12-0-1 SUNYAC

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I guess it's unusually silent on here this evening for a reason - for all the crap that's come down the pipe at Geneseo, they sure came out smelling like roses tonight. Congrats to the Knights for pulling the win tonight, and man, their goalie can really stand on his head when it counts.

For our guys, I not only hope, but I would bet a substantial amount that this was a humbling experience for our guys. Although the games were of little consequence overall, every minute of every game means going toe-to-toe, and treating it like Geneseo did - like its your last game (no pun intended, I'm actually serious). The Lakers delivered lax pressure, fell behind, took stupid penalties, and resorted to scrambling at the end. Panic pressure at B-Port lead to nothing left in the tank at Geneseo. Can't blame the refs all the time, cause the measure of a good team means playing past bad calls.

I think it may very well have been a necessary humbling weekend for our Lakers - if one had to lose a game, better to do it now before playoffs, and set the course straight again, just like after Elmira, for the long haul up ahead. And there will be a great opportunity to get that disgusting taste out of our mouths in a week - one game at a time.

If anyone has a poll opinion, let it rip, but in spite of this weekend, it's just become the same scenario as before Norwich and the St.'s dropped one a month back - I say Oswego keeps #1, in lieu of this weekend's importance in games played (in stat's ONLY, IMHO) but several first place votes will likely sap towards the Cadets for their considerable success.

That's it from me - sitting through 2 road losses keeps fans like me humble too. Best of luck now to our Lakers in the SUNYAC Playoffs.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Losing to Geneseo in the last game of the regular season is the best thing that could have happened to Oswego.

Now they've got that burning their butts for the postseason run and they've been brought down out of the clouds and can realize again that they are beatable.

I feel bad for the first SUNYAC playoff opponent. They are going to run into a ambush I think.

Any Oswego fan that doesn't think this is a good thing please state your case. I'd love to hear how this could be a bad loss.

We have locked up an NCAA bid. At worst Oswego is the #2 seed from the East in the NCAA tournament.

It couldn't have come at a better time, or be a better lesson. If Hell have no fury like a Laker's rage, next Saturday should be a slamfest in Oswego. Gosek had his guys in the huddle with 5 seconds left in a deafening rink - no chance to win, so I'll bet he said the same thing. The playoffs are coming, and the win streak and rankings are no longer of concern - play to WIN, and this mess isn't going to repeat itself, because from here on out, everything counts.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

All good things must come to an end...

Better tonight than next week.

On to the playoffs, finally!

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

The BIG question is...How does that defeat taste? Do they shrug it off? Does it really **** them off? Does dropping to number 2 in the polls bother them? Can they put it behind them?......Inquiring minds want to know.:D
