Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

So threads are closed at 1,000 posts, right? I thought it might be 800, but it looks as if I was wrong.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Was going back through some past threads and found this. Made me smile and shows how much respect Oswego has gained this year:

Oswego didn't impress me last night when they played at Utica. Granted, they won the game on a lucky bounce, but if they continue to play the way they did against Utica, they're going to get beat/upset very soon.

Gunn-Taylor was okay in net for the Lakers, but he didn't seem like a goalie that's going to be spectacular in net for the Lakers all year long, or be the goalie who a #1 ranked team needs. From what I've heard, Beckwith should be the starter.

If Hobart plays the way they did against Utica and Manhattanville and Oswego plays the way they did aginst Utica, Hobart is most definitely upsetting Oswego at Home. All Oswego has to do is just skate faster and then they should be fine. They're already quick with their sticks and got their passes and defense down. They just need to skate faster into the opposing teams zone.

And for god's sake, they had a 2 minute 5x3 last night against Utica and they acted like Utica was on the PowerPlay. They just wouldn't shoot the puck. A team like them should have had 2 goals on that Powerplay and the Lakers should have put the Pioneers away much earlier last night than when they decided to do it mid-way through the third period.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

with the last 3 games coming up fast, will we see the new transfer play, and or is there any word on him, and his abilities??..

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

This definitely belongs in the D3 Players in the Pros thread, but I don't care: Tim Potter makes his first pro start tonight for Las Vegas of the ECHL in his hometown of Bakersfield. He'll be playing against the Condors, the team that have him his first pro roster spot but never any ice time.

Carr did play. Was decent with the puck. Made some nice passes. Played OK. He is a little on the slow side. Got caught a few times and had a tough time getting back. Missed some shifts at different parts of the game. Gilchrist will be back next weekend. Gunn-taylor gave up a couple of suspect goals. Didn't get the normal exceptional play from all the D. A couple of bad passes around our net, cost us. Watching Dormo stand off to the side, was as tough to watch as it probably was for him to do it. (sick/flu) Watching the trainer Gary reset Whitelaws shoulder again was cool. TOUGH KID!!!!!!!!!! All and all a successful nite in Mo-ville. Congrats to the Boy's!!!!!

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

So who else is just a little surprised we're still the undisputed champ. Having only played 1 game this weekend to a very unranked Morrisville team, and playing a tied game until the middle of the 3rd, I'm a little surprised to see it was a unanimous decision. I'm not surprised we're number 1, just that not even Norwich got a vote.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

For those of us who have never been to Lake Placid, any suggestions as to where to stay? What are the roads generally like in March? Anything else that would assist any traveler heading there for the NCAA's?

If you're planning on going I would suggest booking a room NOW. I heard rooms are quickly becoming hard to come by. Remember that the D-III tournament is the only game in town that weekend. There is also a Can-Am youth hockey tournament that takes up rooms as well.

Okay, any recommendations on where to stay? Proximity to the ice rink, cost, etc?

When I went in 2008, we stayed at the Best Western, which is just on the edge of town. It was very nice and is probably a bit cheaper than the places that are right in town.

It's only a short 3-5 minute car ride to the rink. If there are any rooms left i would definitely recommend staying there unless you're looking to booze heavily at the local bars and then you might not want to make such a long trek back to the hotel each night.

If you stay near the rink at the hotels right there, it will be more expensive, but it will just a short trip up the hill to your hotel each night from the main drag in town.

Define "long trek". Are we talking The Shed to Onondaga Hall, Sub Shop to Daga, or Old City to Daga?

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Fixed your post

My sincerest apologies Jabber. I am ashamed of myself. In my defense, most of the time if I left Greene's I stopped across the street for a "breather"

We're talking more like Front Door Tavern to Onondaga Hall;)

The Tavern is a good deal more than 3-5 minutes from Daga... I am skeptical...
