Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I have made 5 Lakers games thus far - the lone loss @ Elmira, the Pathfinder, Adrian and Plattsburgh. To keep this party going, we need to stay out of the penalty box and keep up the intensity in the corners...at times we have looked a bit too casual on the boards alongside/behind our own net for my taste, but I'm just a fan...

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

As much as Platty fans love to be jump all over the prospect of being SUNYAC champions and getting into the NCAA again, I think there's a lot more reservation on OSU's part. Draft is right - its one game at a time, with a roster absolutely loaded with youngsters that no one back in fall could have remotely predicted would go this far. As excited as we the fans are, when the NCAA opens up, I have my reservations on possible jitters with the new Lakers - they need to stay cool.

No question now - I thoroughly believe the Lakers will be in the NCAA's (one way or another, with all factors remaining constant), and they have the firepower and determination to set sail for Placid. The real question, to me, is willpower: can the wave of playoff emotions and uncertainty be kept in check until the trophy is brought onto the ice?

I totally agree.. we just gotta stay outta the sin bin...keep everyone healthy (ssshhh don't jinx it) and keep all the emotion in check and we should...in my opinion...be hoisting another banner in the CC...but...again. everything is just speculation till we drop the puck, but ****, it looks good.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Agree with many points put up, gotta stay out of the box, and have more dicsipline in general.....also its a loooooong season, I remember during the 87 season by the Sunys I was tired and burnt a little, so dont get to excited when and if they rest a few guys come the next 3 games, as this is needed, season started in sept with dry land training and hasnt let up yet.......side note, we ran out of $$$ for sticks at the end of the 87 yr as well, werent expected to make it to the Big Dance...LOL.......

While nobody can know for sure and only time will tell if they do, however if any team has had more hands on training for such high pressure, I would love to hear about them. This laker team is riding a 20 game win streak, has been ranked #1 in the nation since early December, and was even favored to win against Plattsburgh, a team they hadn't beaten in years. If this young team didn't know what pressure was before the season started, they certainly do now.

I know we Plattsburgh fans certainly sound a bit repetitive, but it must be said again... Remember what happened to Plattsburgh last year. They were ranked #1 virtually all of last year, were favored in pretty much every game they played all year, and look what happened to them once it was tourny time...

Sometimes, players fall victim to a Timbuk 3 moment, it is hard to play hockey wearing shades.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

KGT's play this year has really got me thinking about last year. If KGT had gotten some playing time would we have not seen Captain Cramp in SUNYAC playoffs?

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I already miss KGT coming out like an MMA fighter...

He should face Herschel Walker AFTER Oswego's season is over; I think KGT could take him lol :D

About 77 minutes non-stop via Cape Air - flights daily :p

In case some of you are still thinking about shuttling across New England...

Cape Air flights involved in minor mishaps

Cape Cod Times

(Feb. 5 , 2010) One Cape Air plane struck a snowbank Monday in New York and another clipped a runway light at Logan International Airport, an airline official said Thursday.

No one was injured in either incident, said Michelle Haynes, spokeswoman for the Hyannis-based airline, which also serves Nantucket.

In the snowbank incident, a Cessna 402s flying from Albany to the Watertown International Airport in New York slid on the icy runway, Haynes said. The airplane damaged its propeller when it slid off the runway and struck a snowbank. The six passengers and one pilot aboard the aircraft were not injured, she said.

Also on Monday, a Cape Air Cessna 402s leaving Logan International Airport for Hyannis struck a runway light while making a turn, Haynes said. No one was hurt, she said. The passengers on the aircraft were taken to Hyannis in a Plymouth and Brockton bus

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

The sitting people for stupid calls goes back to when Roll coached. I remember Bowman having to sit out against Genny after a loss to Bport. KGT will probably not get the start against MoVille. Beckwith is more than capable to handle the duties for Saturday. I think Selleck plays because Gosek did stick up for him. However, he may have a short leash. Here's hoping that The Lake Show takes it seriously because my best friend went to Moville and I don't want to hear his crap if we lose.

Maybe, but the ray-bans sure didn't stop these guys from laying it down:

Lakers Win Whiteout Game - 2010

Great clip! One of my best night's ever for an Oswego hockley game on that campus.

Have you guys up there starting naming the hallway on game nights "Gosek-ville" yet? I can only imagine how nutty it would be on March 6 if we get one more shot at Plattsburgh in that barn.

Gosekville might have just taken over as my favorite name for the student section.

It's right up there with the The Woodshed.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

So I've been "lurking" this page all year, finally got around to making an account, and I have noticed people seem to dance around the idea of just speculating about NCAA's. IMO theres no real shame/harm in it, (yes, i know theres a speculation thread) so being as we are 21-1, I think it's rather obvious that we're in. But, all seeding and devils advocacy aside, does anyone else agree with me that we have a National Champion caliber team again this year??? :D

The campus is starting to agree. There's been alot of buzz on campus this week about making plans for lake placid. There's a bunch of students getting together to purchase group tickets, and many people have told us that they've already made hotel reservations.

Not that I don't think they can do it and I'm certainly hoping for a trip to Placid, but this sounds a lot like what Plattsburgh fans did last season: planning early. Hopefully the end result will be different.

Planning and hoping to be in Placid is one thing.

But expecting to be there is assinine.

This team certainly has the talent to be there and win it all but as Plattsburgh proved last year, the best team all year doesn't necessarily win it all in the end.

Oswego could be subject to the same thing that happened to Plattsburgh with Neumann to a team like Elmira, Middlebury, Williams, Adrian, Amherst etc that get hot at the right time and win a winner take all playoff game.

These NCAA quarterfinal games aren't series anymore like they used to be that would favor and allow the better team to advance most times. Anything can happen on any given night with a hot goalie and there are plenty of teams that have goalies capable of stealing games.

Don't get me wrong....love the enthusiam from the Oswego faithful, but EXPECTING to be in Placid is just dumb.

If the Lakers don't make it, I hope everyone that is making plans to go up still ends up going anyway because any true hockey fan needs to experience Placid atleast once regardless of whether your team is playing there or not. It's incredible.
