Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Alright Laker Nation...(D-III as a whole too;) )

Time to show the Rowdy Crowd we may not have their hockey IQ and originality but we DO have sheer numbers...

Oswego's own Neil Musselwhite ( as well as Gustavus Adolphus' David Martinson, Nick Sucharski and Stout's Joel Gaulrapp) need your votes to help them make it to the D-I Frozen Four skills challenge in Detroit.

Lets show the rest of the country that some of the top D-III players can play with some of the D-I talent and help get all four to Detroit.

Can you imagine Musselwhite in the fastest skater competition?! It would be a travesty if he doesn't get there.

Also, there are two D-III women's players eligible on the women's east roster. Please throw some support to Elmira's Jamie Kivi and UMass-Boston's Maria Nasta to help get them to Detroit too.

Time to rise up Oswego State hockey fans and help Neil get to Detroit!

Does anyone think there would be a possibility the booster club would invest in a glove/skate dryer for the hockey team so there would be no further glve burning incidents?

From my understanding, the dryer they use is used for sticks and gloves etc all the time because it has different settings. The incident Saturday night... the setting on the dryer was not adjusted properly.

With last Saturday's win, Oswego pretty much cemented a trip to the NCAA, barring a Mets-like collapse (disclaimer: I am, unfortunately, a Mets fan).

However it is Senior Night this weekend and we don't want a repeat performance of what happened last year. Now I know the circumstances are completely different with fewer seniors, better leadership, and knowing that winning the SUNYAC was the only way to get in last year, but I am still a tad nervous.

Do I still expect the Lakers to win? Absolutely, especially considering I don't know when the last time they lost to Cortland was and am too lazy to look it up right now. Still, every win counts at this point for seeding in the NCAAs which will probably be a very tough go for the Lakers even if they do get the 1 seed in the East.

The scariest scenario right now and a very likely scenario if Adrian wins the MCHA has Oswego facing the Elmira/Adrian winner. Not a great matchup for the #1 team in the nation having to face one of those two when they should be getting a team like the NESCAC runner-up, Manhattanville, or ECAC Northeast winner.

Their last tie was 3-3 on 11/17/2006 in Cortland. Oswego won the home leg that year 4-1.

Their last loss was 5-4 on http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20060120&vis=oswst&home=cortst&gender=m in Cortland. (that was one of only 4 Cortland Ws that year). Oswego won the home leg that year 7-1.

Their last tie at home was 1-1 on 02/22/2002 in the SUNYAC Semifinal game 1. Oswego won 4-1 at home, 9-6 away, and 5-4 in game 2 of the semifinal that year.

Going back to 1998, which is what is on USCHO and collegehockeystats.net, Cortland has not beat Oswego in Romney or CC even once.

I remember the tie in 06 and being puzzled to say the least. What year was the 5-4 loss tho?

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

None of this matters...its a new year....Cortland is 0-0 against Oswego this year and has a huge chance to take down Oswego. Heck Oswego could very easily lose all 4 straight because anything can happen. History doesn't mean anything in the eyes of some. Why not. Tank show rides again. Cortlands got to be the favorite.

What, cause Plattsburgh couldn't do it for themselves yet? Pardon me for asking, but with all the good ol' time stats that the Card fans are pulling out now in lieu of this season, are you guys just pulling our legs and trash talking (mind you, I love trash talk) most of the time, or really just trying to be yesteryear blowhards?

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Remy- history is fine for discussion purposes, or for inspiration, however when it comes down to it games are played in the present. Even though Cortland has historically done poorly at Oswego, I sure hope they are not overlooked. If history has taught us anything, its that anything can happen, even if its NEVER happened before. One only has to look at the Red Sox (who I hate with a passion) to know that even 100 years of history can be discarded in a single moment, game, or season.

So yet again, I say to you, Plattsburgh may very well win the SUNYAC in Oswego, but it will be because they scored more goals that night, and not because it happened 3, 5, 10, or 20 years ago.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

A great win on Senior Night after last year's debacle. Nice to see the seniors get in on the action, but does anyone know what happened to KGT? Considering he is one of the reasons why the Lakers are on this win streak, it is a very big cause for concern.

All Oswego needs is one more win or a Tie/Loss from Plattsburgh to wrap up the #1 seed in the SUNYAC. Here's hoping they're playing at the CC come March 6th!
