Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I'd think Hank's hurt because after his performance against Buff St., it wouldn't have made a lot of sense to healthy scratch him Saturday.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

All the more reason to keep the same lineup though, no?

Buffalo State is one of the weakest teams in the conference this year. I'm sure Gosek wanted to give some guys some ice time that weren't getting consistent minutes for that one as opposed to against a very hot and solid Fredonia team.

IMHO, HVB can't keep up with most of the Laker skaters and that's why he had been a healthy scratch for most of the second half. The six d were playing great.

Fair enough... just seems to me that HVB earned himself at least that next game... but I'm definitely not one to question Gosek.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

One of the refs took a hard Fredionia clearing shot to the cheek late in the second. After a long delay getting him repaired they postponed the last five minutes of the second and played it after cleaning the ice and before the third.

To clarify it was with 4:51 left in the first, not the second. The went to intermission, played the remaining time and went directly to the second, not the third. That was one heckuva battle scar too! OUCH!

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

In regards to the supposed injuries. After the Buffalo State game, I saw Fox and he said that the shoulder would be fine and he would go on Saturday, obviously the injury prevented that. I then saw him and Matt Singleton both in slings on Saturday morning before the game. Obviously, neither played.

Van Boxmeer was at the game Saturday (as he is supposed to be) and did not appear to be in any pain or discomfort and thus assuming he was a healthy scratch.

I have seen Moodie around campus and there is no tell tale sign that he is still ailing. Perhaps he "pulled a Wally Pipp" and just got injured at the wrong time when someone else got hot?

Fox also said recently that the shoulder is still sore but he hopes to play this weekend.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

If I were Oswego I'd rest those "hurt" guys Friday night to preserve them for Platty on Saturday. The Bears get chippy when the game gets outta hand (and I am expecting that to happen)

I wish people would stop overlooking Potsdam like its a throwaway game.

Potsdam can play and if Oswego overlooks them...they will lose points.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I don't think I said "rest all of the top players"...I said hurt players. I think I would know not to overlook Potsdam, seeing as the team I root for has tied Potsdam twice the past two seasons. Wouldn't it make sense to rest Fox for an extra game and have that stellar line Saturday night? If there are no other options that can fill in Fox's spot against Potsdam, I question the Lakers' depth...

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

If Oswego makes the national championship game...

Eric Selleck would be on pace to finish the season with 66 points.

Would that be the most single season points in D-III since RIT's 2001 runner-up season?

EDIT: Nevermind. Forgot about Adrian's point totals in 2007-2008. Skelly had 77 points. Krug had 74?

Steve Aronson's 86 remains ridiculously impressive considering it wasn't all that long ago.
