Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I might start a petition to ban any interpretation of "My team is better than yours, even though we lost." Maybe its just because I am an Oswego fan, and I've heard it all week. Its an awful lot like listening to die hard Syracuse football fans when I went to the SU-USF game. "We were the better team except for the 7 turnovers" The object is to put the puck in the net more than the other team. The better team won. Also, I didn't see, but I have heard, that while Plattsburgh controlled play in the second, Oswego actually controlled the first and was the better team in the third. A little home cookin in the shot column. I realize this happens in Oswego too, but you can only believe half the stats you see. The pollsters should take notes of this post.

I wouldn't say Oswego was the better team in the third. Especially the middle to late half of the third, Platty put alot of pressure on our net. That late 2nd period goal allowed us to play a little tighter defensively going into the third with a lead rather than a tie. That tight defense stood up as well as KGT.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

From my vantage point in the press box i thought that while the third period was even. However the Cardinals had better opportunities to put the puck in the net. But as we all know they did not and the Lakers put in 2 to win it.

Insightful.;)

5-1 Oswego defeats Cortland. The Lakers played well, took a few too many penalties at one point, but overall a decent performance.

Oh, that shot clock simmers up a real good home cooked meal. It's common place there.

The last I heard Beckwith was home in Ohio, so unless he comes back soon, it's probably going to be KGT again.

Sorry Maloney, had to steal it.

As reported on WNYO during the Plattsburgh game, Beckwith stayed "home." As in Oswego in his dorm room. As did Anderson, he did not go back to Ohio. If so he flew back really soon since I saw him walking back from class on Monday.

Since Gunner started against Cortland last night I would expect to see him in net tonight against Utica.

I got my info from a person who spoke with the girl's team, who said Ohio not Oswego. My info was faulty, but really is it that big a deal that three people need to harp on it, some even days after it was posted?

Just wanted to let you know that Beckwith stayed at oswego, in case you hadn't heard.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Just got back from the laker game and it was a very subdued crowd there. I would have loved to see Romney with as many people that the rink had tonight. Yes I know it wouldn't happen but I think the roof would have come off at Romney with that many people.
A very big difference between the second and third period. The second period looked like Oswego was going to roll all over Utica. The third was a totally different story. They looked very tired after killing 7 minutes continous PKing. The refs didn't help either for they blew alot of calls. I was on the end line of the open end of the bleachers. The third goal should have been waved off for the net look clearly off and the one they waived off should have counted for the puck was in the net after the phantom whistle. Taylor-Gunn looked good in the net and the PK unit was very good tonight I thought. I hope they don't look past Morrisville for they could get bit in the behind and settle for a tie again like last year which probably cost them the trip to the NCAA's.

Yeah, uncharacteristic 3rd period from the boys tonight. Good thing they were able to hang on.

And once again, sorry for ruining KGT's shutout.

That's okay, we did it too

The third goal of which you speak was a goal. Calling the game for WTOP we watched the replay and Luckow kicked the net off after the puck passed the line. The phantom whistle goal - I have no idea what happened there. Also, Moodie's (?) "goal" in the first should have been called when he had the open net and everyone yelled, I think it bounced in and right back out of the net and the refs didn't catch it. Right after that instance, Utica had a questionable call where they celebrated but the refs and the goal light begged to differ. From my vantage point in the press box it appeared as though the puck was clearly sitting either on (not passed) the line, or barely in the crease, but I believe the call was correct. So, in my mind it was a 5-2 game.

Dam refs. That would helped me in SUNYAC pick em.

It sounds like one of the reasons why Oswego was gassed was b/c after playing nearly 4:00 minutes on the wrong end of 5 x 3's. Good to see them hold on. It sounds like the game wasn't as close as the score would indicate.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I was at a concert in Rochester last night and got a text from one of my friends at the game saying Utica won 3-2. I went the whole night a little p/oed that they lost their winning streak and a pretty big game for NCAA comparisons only to log on here this morning and find out they actually WON.

Cool. Now if the Bills just lose today it will be a good sports weekend after Elmira swept its series!

To me, it looked like the Utica "goal" did indeed cross the line - it seemed to sit there for several seconds with no signal.

The Moodie play was so strange too... it seemed as if he had all the time in the world with the whole net and it seemed like it would be impossible for it not to go in.

The officiating was really strange overall last night for sure.

All right, time to settle this: Who was closer?!?!
