Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I'll take it! How many does Prez lose for switching his score pick and then claiming he nailed it?

As for the game, look at those final shot tallies. 34-14!?!

Lastly, Dyce just posted a link to this in the Plattsburgh thread, but it really needs to be embedded here. Ducky, can you please make this the new theme to "Behind the Bench?"

What amount of money would it take for you to promise never to show that video again. Makes me wanna kick a baby through an electric fan.

Good game at the Stafford tonight...thought Platty controlled more of the game than Oswego...it basically came down to Oswego being able to put the puck in the net on their chances and Platty not being able to on their chances...KGT showed up big and outplayed Leis too...

How many times have we seen the opposite and Oswego come up on the short end of the stick. Good to see some luck go the Lakers way. In this rivalry it was bound to happen.

AGREED! A little luck and some good goaltending (and not so good on their end) and suddenly a streak comes to an end

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Aside from dumb penalties that resulted in Platty goals, pretty good road trip for OSU. Two big conference wins, no more trips to the North Country!

A couple things to disect this week:

Where does Oswego land in the polls? Plattsburgh? (already being discussed)

Who does Oswego start in goal next weekend?

I am sure Coach will be (ahem) addressing the penalty situation in this weeks practice.

Great Win!

From eZine articles:

The visible basic swine flu symptoms can come and go in a matter of 5 days. However, for victims of the flu who have other complications and symptoms it can take up to 3 weeks or even longer in the very worst cases.

The decision may be an easy one for Coach Gosek this weekend. Not that anyone has swine flu!

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

I agree , good game. No goalie controversey. Gunn-Taylor did what back ups are suppoesed to do.

Back ups are supposed to beat Plattsburgh? Really? I would agree that a back up should be able to step in and beat Potsdam but not a team like the Cardinals. Heck, Oswego's starting netminders have not even been able to do that in years, let alone hold them to 2 goals, in their own barn.

Kyle has earned the right to at least split some starts. He was outstanding in the only body of work in which he can be judged, who cares who is better in practice or who has the better pedigree.

Not to mention KGT has proven he can put up good numbers on a bad team. I think he had roughly a 2.6 GAA as the netminder for Buff State two years ago. He is certainly has more talent around him in Oswego, so those numbers could be expected to be slightly better...

I thought there was a error-proof report done with a bunch of intense fact-checking that confirmed that. :p

Also, this is a great thing to see again. When was the last time that was the case?

Only one penalty resulted in a Plattsburgh goal. The second goal was full strength. As for the total game, the Cards were much quicker resulting in that very lopsided shot total. I believe Lakers total after two periods was 7. It was the first game in alot of years that I've seen where I didn't feel the teams were equal. Last four years were scary when they played each other. But Oswego capitalized on their few chances and a win is a win. Perhaps next meeting will be different?

Platty definitely has the speed. It's odd to see Oswego not have the speed to match up as we have had plenty of speed the last few years. We are certainly much bigger (and slower) and need to utilize that to our advantage.

I stand corrected. In the 2nd period the 1st Platty goal was on the PP. The penalties then kept coming for the Lakers (a couple 5x3, I believe) and the momentum shifted to the Cardinals. Platty owned the 2nd period. The next meeting should be a beauty as Platty seeks to avenge the loss.

No, penalties were even and Plattsburgh only had the one 5 on 3.....it may have seemed like 5 on 3's the way Plattsburgh dominated the second. Up until the last minute of the 2nd, Oswego had 1 shot on goal (mind you there were a few blocked shots).

The next meeting will be extremely anticipated. We will get to see the Cards on the bigger ice surface before that weekend, but it will be interesting to see the speed of the Cards on the ice. I think you will also see a different goaltending attitude with some much more needed experience before the Laker weekend. Oswego has always played better in the Stafford over the 1-9-1 stint, then they have at home. I attribute much of that to the speed of the Cards on the bigger ice. While there may be an "L" in the column, after the performance for 90% of the game Saturday, I don't think its the Plattsburgh fans who should be worried.

Re: Oswego State 2009-10 Regular Season Thread

Anyone know how Rodrigues is doin?

Talking to members of the team via text message on their way home from the game, they said he was sore. He was feeling better over the course of the ride and was able to feel good about the win. I believe the exact quote was "he's sore, he just got his bell rung." I would think he'll be in the lineup come Friday... I will verify this in class on Monday.

While you're at it, how's Beckwith feeling? Who's penciled in to start this weekend in net?

OK...let me get back to you on the worried Laker fans.

Hey I'm back, and I could not find any!
