Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

The US couldn't make the adjustments needed, and just flat out were out played.

Congratulations, Canada.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

HELL of a hockey game.

Congrats to Canada. They certainly deserved it and played a better game tonight.

Outcoached. Great goaltending. Great special teams. Can't win if you don't score.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

Won down, won to go.

Congrats to the US for a good game. Imagine what a best of seven would be like.

Seriously. That is what all women's hockey should be like. Watching some of the other games this tournament and then watching that game is night and day.

Congratulations, Canada.

I think it was also outcoached. Johnson shortened the USA bench - especially in period 1, where it was primarily a 2-line game. The USA's top players didn't have the legs to mount a rally. (Ruggiero played 19 minutes in the first 40, for example.) Maybe that was his plan ... to get an early lead and try to sneak one past Canada...

At any rate, kudos to both teams for what I'd say is The Most Watchable women's hockey game ever. Quality of play is much much higher than even 2006.

Agreed.

Fantastic showcase of the women's game.

The only thing I'm frustrated about is the USA's lack of adjustments throughout the game.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

Yikes. I only watched the last few minutes and after a few of those I wanted to know why the refs weren't going to the locker room and just coming out to blow the whistle at the end of the game. They were mugging each other!

Somebody just handed me a gold-canned Coca Cola that reads, "Congratulations Canadian Olympic Ice Hockey Team on Winning Gold!"

Good thing you got that one, or that would've been A LOT of Coca Cola to be destroyed :p

At least they're not out there putting on championship T-shirts and hats!
