Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

SteveP, this one's for you:

Ô Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

:D

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

Agreed. Maybe not by the canadians or the russians but they had it from the people that matter the most.

I like this US team in 4 years. I really, really do. They're all so young and can only get better with the talent coming up as well.

Despite what you might think, any Canadian with any hockey sense had respect for the US coming in.

And who cares about the Russians.

Thanks -- at least one of us in this house sung with gusto! The other -- er, not so much.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

This is what being a red sox fan was like back before 2004.

no.

the "professional" movement as we know it began in 1998 (where our team somewhat embarrassed themselves), but the seed was set in the 1996 world cup, which of course the US won - not is a 'one game, winner take all' format like today ( :p ) where luck can play a big part. but in a best of three. where the US won the last two in canada to take the tournament.

nobody is shouting "1918" at USA hockey.

Re: Olympics Part V: The Search for Gold

I used to not really care for him, but didn't hate him, just because he beat the Wings for the cup last year, but now I hate him. I hate all of them, **** Canada.

I've always hated him. Ever since he entered the league. Now I actually have a reason. :D
