Ohio State Coach???

Re: Ohio State Coach???

Now we are into football, it's getting worse! Please save us from this banter Osualum86, give u something interesting to debate, discuss.
The good news is that as soon as something is announced on the OSU coaching front, I'm confident that this other debate will fade away.

Anyway, do people think that the new Buckeyes coach will have a better team to work with than the 2014-15 squad? I don't see it as a given either way. Yes, there is a lot of talent arriving, but the team is also losing a number of key seniors, and sometimes more talent doesn't outweigh more experience. Of course, it could depend on how quickly the new staff can integrate the talent.

Re: Ohio State Coach???

Sorry Puckdrop14! I have not heard anything lately. There is nothing new on the OSU athletic website. Mrs 86 and I are in Binghamton NY this weekend. We're going to the Binghamton Senators game tomorrow night to watch former Buckeyes Ryan Dzingel and Max McCormick. If I hear something on the coaching search, I will get it out here. Not sure what is taking so long, but it is what it is. I guess I would rather the athletic department take their time and get it right than to make a hasty decision and set the program back.

I am not as familiar with all the kids as you probably are but from what I see I think OSU is getting an upgrade in talent. BUT, I don't expect frosh to deliver in big ways. Sure, some do but most struggle a little bit and don't really light it up till they have a year or two under their breezers (and I know several exceptions so spare me a list but in general). One of my sick delights is to watch a frosh pull some move that always worked before & get stuffed by players that are at least as good and have seen it before. I think it may take a season or two but OSU will be better. I thought I saw a lot of potential in MSU this year and over the next couple of years they could be trouble but that talent needs experience.

I grew up in Binghamton, be sure to have some spiedies with steamed clams and a brew. :D

We didn't get spiedies this time. Next trip! We had a great time, though, despite the B-Sens 4-1 loss to Bridgeport. Loved the arena and the atmosphere. Great hockey barn, and everyone was really friendly. It helped that we shelled out the coin to stay at the Holiday Inn across the street (walked to the game and back). We ate at a couple of diners (real diners like the ones we used to have here in the Midwest) and I got Mrs 86 some mall time at Oakdale Mall in Johnson City. We ate at the Ground Round earlier today on the way out of town. Really nice town, Binghamton. We may have to go back at some point. So, back to the thread topic, still no word on the OSU Women's Hockey coach. I expect something to be done before too long, but I think it's paramount that OSU get the right person in place, and if that takes a little longer, then so be it.

Ed....While you were in Binghamton watching the B-Sens, you'd be happy to know that former OSU standout Spooner is playing great with Team Canada. The line of Spooner/Wakefield/Jenner has looked the most impressive for TC so far in the Worlds this year.

Thanks for the note, OmMAA! I have been following via highlights posted on twitter and I am not surprised at the success Natalie is having! As I have gotten older (reached the middle age point, to be honest) I've come to the realization that players like Natalie don't come around very often and it makes me appreciate that much more that she chose to spend her college days playing for Ohio State. We're proud of her, and regardless of which national team sweater she wears, she will always be a Buckeye!

Re: Ohio State Coach???

There is no word on the OSU Women's Hockey coaching search at this point. In other news, Team USA won gold at the IIHF Women's World Championship with a 7-5 victory over Canada. Also, totally OT, but the OSU Men's Lacrosse team scored a big victory over perennial power Johns Hopkins today 15-12. It was Ohio State's first-ever victory over the Blue Jays.

Pure guess on my part, but with the new coaches at Brown and UMD announced, suspect OSU's won't be that far behind.

Given the choice, hard to imagine that anything going on at Brown was relevant to the OSU selection. But I think you're right - and MSU will likely follow OSU...

My point was that once the first domino falls the rest follows suit quickly.

Re: Ohio State Coach???

Yup, except that the Brown domino was way too far from the rest of the dominos to start the process when it fell.....

I don't get the Brown domino. No comments on others that applied, or were in the final round etc

A school that holds it's two highest positions by women. Anybody?

Given who Brown picked and that that was their best candidate, either none of the people who were considered at UMD/OSU applied OR they had already made their decision prior to the posting. Either way, the Brown selection did not hold up the UMD or OSU selection process. None of the UMD or OSU candidates were likely waiting on Brown to make their decision anyway as it is clearly the weakest of these three opportunities. So when the Brown domino fell, it didn't matter....

My question is was it their best candidate or ONLY? It really was not a domino as you said just anyone must admit the disappointment in the lack of transparency.

If a domino falls in a rink and there is no one there to hear it does it make a ripple?
