Little ****ed with their ranking system at the moment. I should be in gold league but I've been stuck sitting at number 1 for silver for several days just because I haven't reached their goofy point threshold. Nevermind that I've been crushing every gold player I get put against and made this platinum guy ragequit two times in a row with a 4 fester hit squad.

Minigun doesn't need stupidly high apm, he beats people enough as it is, and sc2 is a lot different in terms of how units are controlled. You can hotkey more than 12 units at a time and it's easy to cycle through abilities.

Also, **** immortals and the protoss who wall in then spam those mother ****ers. Oh you made roaches? well here are 2 immortals that are going to rape your entire army without a single loss. The absolute worst part about SC2 is how the most poor players in existence, who surprisingly come out right after 3pm, can just use a preset build and win.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

So, in an effort to get this thread going again, I had this observation: I downloaded Shift 2 as a free PS+ game and I was playing it and was racing on Australia's Mount Panorama track when I realized, despite playing numerous racing games over the years, I've never played this track.

I've realize that the chances of playing a racing game that has everything, are almost zero. It's got Ferrari, it doesn't have Porsche. It's got ridiculous amounts of tuning, but it's only got a few tracks. I could go on. Forza and GT have both come close but it's those few things that hold it back from being "perfect".

I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the rights needed to add tracks and brand name cars to games.

I haven't been posting much because I haven't been spending much lately.

EA has the exclusive license for Porsche locked up. That's why most games use a Porsche tuner company like Gemballa or RUF.

Torchlight 2 ($19.99) is now available for pre-order on Steam. Has a July 2012 release date (no day listed). You also get Torchlight for free with pre-order. Can keep or gift to a friend.

I gifted mine to my gf, since I own the game.

I've been replaying Saints Row 2 with my gf lately. I forgot how satisfying the stun gun is to use. I could stun random people all day! :D Heli Assault is also still a bitch.

Other than that, I did find a cheap copy of Disgaea 4 (PS3). Gotta love strategy RPG!

PSN Store has some good deals this week too. All of the PixelJunk games are either $1.00 or half off ($4.99). Also, all of the Uncharted 2 DLC are free to download.

Anyone else get Diablo 3 yet? I'm liking it so far, but haven't gotten to any major bosses yet. Act One seems to reprise a lot of the original game's mini-bosses (Skeleton King, The Butcher, etc.)

Wow, that game is hard. It took me two hours to beat the loading screen :p

/don't actually play it

I'll probably buy Diablo 3 at some point. But trying not to spend too much money before I move.

Got it. Love it.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Been on an iPhone spending spree lately. At between 1 and 5 bucks a pop, can't really go wrong with most of them. And you can take them anywhere and play a few minutes at a time.

Couple good ones:

Space Invaders Infinity Gene - You start with plain old vanilla 1979 Space Invaders. This lasts about 10 seconds, then all hell breaks loose. You "evolve" the game over time and gain abilities like full-screen movement, different firing modes, etc., then you start fighting bigger ships with different attack patterns, then stage bosses, etc. It starts pretty easy, then starts getting into Touhou territory by the end.

Pinball Arcade - Currently at six tables, and they release two new tables every month. Zen Pinball is also good, and has a table with an RPG-style leveling and item system.

Then there are the obvious ones like Temple Run, Fruit Ninja, etc.

Got a Torchlight 2 beta key to use for this weekend. Yay!

Installing now! :D

Same satisfying loot whore, dungeon crawler as the first! I didn't try any multiplayer yet. Because I don't really want to play with strangers.

Instead of a single dungeon, its been several different, level ranged dungeons for different quests. As well as a lot of outdoor areas in the beginning. Although I can see a larger dungeon as I walk around. I assume that will be the main story quest one.

Beta has 4 classes to choose from, although you can always customize through skill trees. There is was I think 8 different pet appearances and each had a couple colors. The player had face and hair customization, though limited. Could just be for beta though.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

I beat the Beta of Torchlight 2.

It lets you get to level 21 (+ a full bar of xp towards 22). The Grand Reagent is the final boss you fight. Not terribly difficult on Normal setting at max level.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

I really want to get DIII, but it means I would have to buy a new computer. I've been mooching off employer laptops since 2007. The only other PC I own is from 2003 (though I have upgraded various components over the years).

So paying a few hundred for Diablo III seems a bit hard to justify... for now.
