Official Thread of the Leftover League

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

No, because what's left is a third-rate league. You really don't have a stake in this, so stop telling those of us in the leftovers how we should react to it.

Are you stupid? How does FTLT not have a stake in this?

And if people want to abandon their team because of this, they weren't good fans in the first place. Good riddance.

My mistake. For some reason I thought it was the Air Force fan lecturing both Mankato & St. Cloud.

You can say "good riddance" all you want. If enough people look at the Northern Sun Hockey Conference and say "that's not really a D-I conference" and decide not to play along, it's over.

It'll have a postseason tournament and an autobid. It's a D1 conference. Who's IN the conference doesn't matter if you're a fan. I'm actually excited to get to play teams like NMU and Lake State. I never really cared about DU or CC. And now I don't have to deal with the trolls from UND and fUMD.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

well, fold then. but you stupid landcows are part of this. you had some really nice seasons a few years ago. you, too, can make this. c'mon, suck it up - you're not in the shape Bowling Green or LSSU or UAH or Ferris are in. and I doubt your players would qualify for University of Phoenix. but you are WCHA and we will put up with you.

Exactly.
Win in your league, get into the tourney and do some damage, that's how you get known.
I'd be going to all the games regardless of who we played if I lived close enough.
I go to the games because I'm a Husky fan and want to watch my team, not because of who my team plays.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

think of it. a league without dasher dancer Curious George. no peeing in elevators. no free shoes. no giving the finger to refs.

this could be a good thing. a thing about hockey.

Yeah...BSU was playing in the CHA and made it to the Frozen Four. Why does it matter who's in your league if you kick tail in April?

To be fair, we might still have a guy try to drunkenly run down someone with his SUV though. ;)

If this league means the Mavs win a WCHA title, or get into the tourney more than once every 12 years, it can't be THAT bad. It just sucks to be cast off by all of the schools who I love to watch compete. It'll take time, but the new conference won't be as bad. Plus, no one will give us a chance, as evident by all the teams who left the WCHA, so let's fuel our fire to get to the tourney and beat those same teams that thought the leftovers were simply that.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

You're right, you didn't use the word "should". I'll give you that. You're also forgetting who has paid airfare for all of SCSU's trips to the Last Frontier. Hint: it ain't SCSU. I'll let Donald chime in as to the specifics of that arrangement.

Sb, first off, I wasn't trying to insight anything with you, I'm trying to explain something, and the last thing I wanna do is involve Mr. "I Coined BHHC, look at me!"

My point is this: I didn't forget who paid for those trips. Thanks much, I appreciated them. Now, if there are going to be two conferences, why would the powers that be in both of those conferences KEEP them split up? What does this change? I'll tell you why its needed more now than ever... because $ is gonna come up REAL soon when it comes to teams like BG, FSU, LSSU, MSUM, and hopefully UAH gets involved in this too. They need all the help they can get. I know that its not the most expensive thing in the world, but it'd be nice if EVERY team EVERY year got an extra two games, so they can schedule an extra series and make some $. I don't want to see any of those teams fold.

I understand you guys wanna be together so you can play conference games that mean more. Understand completely, I do, and if I cheered for Anchorage or Fairbanks I'd probably be asking for it. But I not only cheer for St. Cloud, I am also PRAYING to keep teams afloat. Why do you guys act like we're calling your mother promiscious when we DARE mention that the Alaska schools were kept apart for forever for a reason and that it may be best to continue that trend?

Be serious. We still have Jutting.
Which is probably a bigger problem than having the rest of those guys bail on us.

But hey, two years left on his contract, two years left til the 'new' WCHA, maybe we'll get a fresh start with a new coach. A coach who can make us take the next step.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

Bull. Mankato would sell more tickets if they play the Gophers 16 times a year at home went 2-14 than if they went 14-2 against what's left of the WCHA.
But would those seats be filled with MSU-M fans, or Gopher fans who can't get tickets at the Mooch driving down to Mankato? :p :D In all seriousness, the last time I went to a game in Mankato about three years ago there looked to be about as many UND jerseys in the stands as MSU-M jerseys.
UMD has won 2 of 3 D-2 football titles, UNO had a phenomenal wrestling program, UND has football, etc, the people likely know DU and CC from hockey, yes, but they also know that these are perrenial college hockey powers, with great hockey history, etc.
But those are D-II football titles and a D-II wrestling program. Basically, a school isn't a national sports name to the general public unless they are having success in D-I Bowl Division football or D-I basketball. D-II football and wrestling success don't make a school and its sports teams household names. And D-I hockey doesn't exactly make a school a household sports name either.

I thought Super League is planned for 12-13 season, just like B1G. That's one year.

Mavs fans don't wear jerseys like the Sioux contingent do.;)

Colorado College, Denver, Miami, Minnesota-Duluth, Nebraska-Omaha and North Dakota will form a conference starting with the 2013–14 season, the Grand Forks Herald reported and USCHO has confirmed, both through sources.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

Thanks. I stand corrected. But Jutting will survive somehow. He always does.
At the end of the day, we're going to evaluate our options and put ourselves in the best position for our program to win conference titles and earn national tournament berths."
If this quote stands true, then he won't be.
