Official Thread of the Leftover League

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

You're right, you didn't use the word "should". I'll give you that. You're also forgetting who has paid airfare for all of SCSU's trips to the Last Frontier. Hint: it ain't SCSU. I'll let Donald chime in as to the specifics of that arrangement.

Did you reply to the wrong person's? Who the hell said there weren't many flights? We all agree that the leftover schools will now have issues with money, right? Then why wouldn't they keep the Alaska schools seperate to HELP with money... less flights and giving two conferences the Alaska excemption every year so they get more home games. First off, I didn't even say that they SHOULD keep them apart. Secondly, if they've been doing it during the good years, why would they change now that they're gonna have to stretch the dollar even further?

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

We couldn't even sell out the Gopher series this year, and this statement is still true.

Completely unfair way to look at it. Many, many people weren't able to make it due to the first big snowstorm of the year. I know multiple people that didn't go because they were from out of town and didn't want to make the trip.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

You're right, Alaska doesn't even have daily jet service. You have to take a train to Winnipeg, go overland via foot and canoe to Yellowknife, and finally mush dogs over 1,000 miles of grueling wilderness. Part of the new Carlson Center renovation includes upgrading to electricity from whale blubber. I think the Sully in Anchorage still relies on steam.

Well done :D

Nobody at Air Force had ever heard of anyone in Atlantic Hockey except for Army and UConn when we joined, and most fans still don't know where those schools are. But they sure show up to watch them lose. Even when CC is filling up the World Arena half an hour away, Air Force still pulls in fans. They like cheap tickets, free parking, and good hockey. I'd bet there are a few folks in Mankato, St. Cloud and Bemidji who feel the same way.

Not St. Cloud.
Go read the article in the Times or read their board.
They're ready to stop supporting the team because they aren't in this new league, and it's disgusting.

Suffice to say you covered it. Should the need arise via some sort of equally dumb retort from him, I'll happily save you the trouble of replying.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

bring on Alaska! both teams! could play one team Friday / Saturday and the other one the next Thursday / Friday. this can totally be worked around.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

St Cloud is a bunch of clowns. their town and their arena suck. we'll keep them around just for fun. they also always beat us. and I hate them for it. but G**d*** it !!!!! Herbie Brooks started that program and we will play this bunch of idiots!! and we''ll like it!! c'mon St Cloud you'll make it!

No, because what's left is a third-rate league. You really don't have a stake in this, so stop telling those of us in the leftovers how we should react to it.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

Yeah, just blow off over a week of classes. Good idea.
Yeah .. um it's called the information age. There are computers, laptops, ipads, netbooks, mobile phones and connectivity everywhere. Look into it.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

we've done this before with CC/DU - during breaks - it works.

They're already planning on it this year for the back-to-back weekends in Anchorage and Canton, though they will only miss 2-3 days of class due to Tech's entire week off for Thanksgiving Break.

Re: Official Thread of the Leftover League

Everybody can't schedule Alaska trips during breaks.

Both of the Alaska schools already do this a minimum of once per year. UAA did it three times last season. Suck it up. You just got dumped into the crapper along with everyone else and this is your big concern? OMG ... Alaska is so far away .. moan whine ...
