Wait, Anchorage is further away than Fairbanks? Did they trade places?

Fairbanks is actually slightly closer to Minneapolis than Anchorage. Little bit of a geographical oddity. Doesn't matter for hockey though, since Delta only flies MSP-Fairbanks in the summer. Wintertime you're going through Seattle or Anchorage.

Same holds true if you're driving up...thanks to the intricacies of the Alaskan highway system, you have to go north before backtracking south to Anchorage, result being that Fairbanks is about 100 fewer miles if you're driving up on the Alcan.

I'd love to see UAF join. haven't been to Fairbanks. and it only seems fair after all the years of travel you guys have endured.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

with all of these programs in super duper financial trouble, schools need to save all the money they can. it's 100+ more miles to anchorage than fairbanks for the teams.

Yeah he doesn't get the fact that 99% of all air travel to Alaska goes through Anchorage but that's ok I guess...
