Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

QUESTION for all Detroit 'burbs residents--where could one possibly find Baltika in that area?
I found some at my local Meijer store. They had some on the shelf and then a few in the cooler. :)

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

Baltika is kinda hard to find. I only know of one store near me that has it. Surly is at all the stores around me, usually in the coolers, top shelf. They are in cans, btw, not bottles. They come in 4-packs, and run about $10.

Have been keeping an eye out here, but haven't seen it though.

So my drinking team with a softball problem (or softball team with a drinking problem, I forget which) has an early afternoon game next weekend, which means postgame drinking will commence in the hottest part of the afternoon. To beat the heat, we're considering some blender drinks. Anyone have a favorite recipe you might be willing to share? (In particular, if you have anything that uses fresh blueberries that would be awesome, since the ones I'm getting at the farmer's market the past few weeks have been great.)

Mojitos! Also, a great spiked with vodka lemonade is great as well. This place I used to go to made variations of lemonade. They had a peach lemonade that was really good and you could add any fruit that you would like. What they would do is crush and blend the fruit and then mix it with the vodka and lemonade. Great for hot afternoons.

Mojitos, margaritas, long islands......

Old Fashioneds. SoCo and Maker's Mark are good choices, and even better with a half/half blend. Otherwise, Stifferinoes are a good summertime drink: a good pour of citrus vodka, ginger ale and a splash of OJ, garnish with lime. Enjoy in moderation plus three.

Basically anything "light." In other words, stay away from the cola-based, the darker beers, etc. Anything citrus-y or clear will work.

Right, I know, but the question was about blender drinks. :p

Since you are comfortable with your manliness, make some daquiris or orange whips. :p

Throw your blueberries in the blender, along with some light rum and some ice. Boom, blueberry daiquiri - it's not rocket science. :p

Remember who you're talking to. I think he makes The Situation look like a post-grad Techie.

What does this sentence mean?

JMH - go simple. Frozen fruit with vodka and a bit of seltzer. Or marg mix and tequila.

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

Well, except for the part about being good with women. In that case, the analogy is reversed. ;)

True.

'ewe, thankfully you don't understand. I really, really, really mean that.

Holy crap. Grumpy's in roseville has amazing monday night drink specials. ANY minnesota beer on tap $2. When I say any you might think, oh just the crappy stuff. No, they have two surlys on tap, NORDEAST on tap, and a slew of other beers.

It let me try Surly Furious last night on the cheap. Good flavor, but it really didn't go well with what I was eating so that sort of spoiled it.

In the summer I tend to stay away from bourbon and end up going more vodka and citrusy, especially if I am drinking outside. 7&7's aren't bad in the summer, probably because of the 7UP.

Makers Mark and ice, blend for 1 minute.

or

get a snow-cone maker and make liquor flavored snowcones

I definitely drink more beer than liquor in winter and vice versa. Dehydrates you too fast, and given that I usually have to drink about 14-15 pints of water on a day like today to stay hydrated.....beer is usually not a good choice.

Hmmmm, I wonder if you could take a bunch of Rumpleminze and chocolate pudding, and make a decent version of Pudding Pops? :D
