This area is a gold mine for beer within a 5-10 minute drive, I can get KBC, Grain Belt, Schells, and obviously New Glarus. I definitely know there's some Im missing. I picked up a sampler of Schells after work tonight

Mmmmm.... 1919....
May have to add that to the list next time I'm home.

And there's a growler of a KBC lager in my fridge. :)

:D

I'm not a root beer fan by any measure, but I do like 1919 in small quantities.

Yeah, not such small quantities we're discussing. :D

See picture that brought about this discussion.

Yup, I saw the picture.
I could see something like that being awesome for a cookout or other type of party, but not for personal, everyday, "keep one in the fridge" use.

A teammate brought some Mountain Crest to softball last night. Apparently goes for about $11 for a case. While I would never allow it into my house, it did not suck for the occasion. :D

btw - I cannot remember the last time I won a hand of poker staring with AQ of any suit. I know it's been long deemed a bad hand so I rarely play it for much, you'd think just friggin once...

I love the description on their site ;):

"Mountain Crest Classic Lager is a craft brewed premium beer..."

It's not that it's a bad hand, it's just a hand that many people WAY overplay.

Good Lord.

I'm more interested in the Axe Head...

You might think we are crazy, but just one sip of extra smooth Axehead will convince even the most discriminating beer drinker that quality can know be found in a 40 oz. bottle.

"Extra smooth", haha. Extra smooth kick in the gut probably.

You need to play more online poker where KQ is considered a case hand. :D

Of course with my luck, I still only win about 50% of those.:o

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

One of my friends in college drank 2 gallons of beer one night.

He wasn't that sloppy, but wow was he hungover the next <strike>morning</strike> evening. :o
I think I've had a gallon of vodka, plus whatever else I randomly drank in the night, during my alcoholism stage at school.

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

In the cooler where the New Belgian usually is located, I found tonight offerings from the Surly Brewing Co! 4 packs; in the pint cans. (The New Belgian is still there, just a shelf over from where it was.)

I had some Furious at the Happy Gnome the other night, so after talking to the liquor store guy, I decided to try the Cynic Ale--evidentially, this is a limited run through the summer. I'm not really up to speed on the particulars, but it is very good :)

Pretty sure I said....: ;)

I never overpay to see the flop with AQ because it seems of all the facecard combinations available it produces the least amount of reward. Even if I can see the flop for next to nothing I'm tempted to fold them.

I've somewhat written off online unless I'm bored. The wonk ratio seems far worse than at Canterbury.

It is. I play just to mess around out of boredom, dollar games and freerolls, etc.

Now, pardon me while I go have a Nordeast showerbeer. :)

F* you! If you read the lodge thread you know my reasoning.

Go figure...this one liquor store in Racine has Grain Belt Premium but not Nordeast, but they have Cold Spring Brewery. Who gives a flying f* about about Cold Spring/Glick?

Bonus: they have Baltika 7 in a six pack.

Sounds like the liquor stores in Minnesota that have Minhas Brewery stuff (cheap, not-that-good), but not New Glarus.

Prairie Lager just might be the worst beer I have ever drank (save infected ones, of course). Ever stuck your nose into a bucket of wet, moldy, swollen corn? Me neither, until I tried that beer. Thankfully it was only $0.99 for the single (I know the price should've made me wary, but I'm always on the lookout for cheap lagers that are better than the standard swill).

I had their Lazy Dog Saison once, which was chiefly noteworthy because there were 8 beers in a 6-pack. It was more like vinegar than a true saison, but at least they gave me a pint glass with the stuff. :o

Oh, I knew about that, as I am friends with your hubby on FB. I mentioned that "LIB might have to cut a pimp!" :p
