Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

I find it way too sweet unless it's on tap.

And I hope you got a lemon, and not an orange. You know, the way it SHOULD be.

It was on tap, but it came with an orange. I will ask for a lemon next time.

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

There's really no wrong way to have a Blue Moon. Lemons are used with most wheats but because of the overwhelming orange flavor of Blue Moon, the orange is just as appropriate.

Blue Moon has even mentioned that the orange was part of the ad campaign and really caught on.

When it was first around here, pretty much when it first came out, it was lemon. Then later on the ad campaign kicked in, and now everyone's on the orange bandwagon.

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

I went to Red Robin last night and had a pint of Blue Moon (since my experience with bottles of it are meh, but it's supposedly much better on tap), but they were out of orange wedges. So, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary and I was left deeply saddened.

I've only ever had it with an orange...

BTW...people in the TC area. I will be visiting family the week before the 4th which means I will be driving through the evil state to the east that has good beer. Just in case anyone wants anything.

You could drink in 1995? Man, you preserved well. Must be all the whiskey.

1996, legally. And I did say "pretty much" when it came out around here. It was around that time, I do remember that. We didn't even know it came with fruit. It was just served that way.

I'm reliving college and having a 24oz'er of the High Life.

Had Kona Brewing Company's Longboard yesterday at a picnic. Pretty much perfect for that situation.

That is delicious! I went into Huberts before the Twins game yesterday to find it was just delivered to them this past week. Like everyone else, they'd been asking the distributor for weeks :)

I'd stopped asking the store if they were going to get any more :( I guess I'm going to have to check and/or start asking again :D
I found some Nordeast last Friday, in Hudson, WI. I was there randomly, and saw that they had it, so I picked up a 12 pack. Even though I'm not much of a beer drinker, I must say, that stuff is quite tasty.

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

Had the Summer '10 version of the Odd Notion series at a barbecue today. Not super delicious (especially since they were serving Long Trail's Blackberry Wheat), but definitely something I would buy a sixer of for myself.

I may have been Baltikicked tonight. I'm chalking it up to work. Humid as all hell, and long days.

Eel River California Blonde. Wasn't impressed at first sip, but halfway through the first bottle I felt a bit better about the purchase. If it weren't over-priced relative to my enjoyment it might be worth another buy, but I didn't like it nearly as much as their porter.

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

Today is a great day! I found a store with a whole line of Baltika beers! The best part is that they are half the price of what I paid at the previous store. Nothing is more than $2. I bought Baltika Cooler. It is a smooth drinking beer.

Today is also a great day to sit on the patio with Leinie's Summer Shandy.

Careful, that's an executable offense of some of these beer snobs' twisted realities...

She's a girl. It's okay. ;)

The Baltika 3 is a good one.

I might have to have a drinky tonight while I watch the documentary "Last Cup: Road To The World Series Of Beer Pong." :D

IThis might be an executable offense as well. I've never actually so much as SEEN a Baltika or Surly's.

Baltika is kinda hard to find. I only know of one store near me that has it. Surly is at all the stores around me, usually in the coolers, top shelf. They are in cans, btw, not bottles. They come in 4-packs, and run about $10.

Please tell me those are larger than normal cans...
