Buy a six-pack of Newcastle, send in the bottlecaps, get a free Newcastle glass. (Note: Link is to a PDF.) MN residents, among other states, don't even actually have to buy the beer.
I have absolutely no idea what brand of whiskey I drank at a wedding reception last night, but it was pretty good. Supposedly it was local to Traverse City, along with all the other wine, beer, and liquor behind the bar.![]()
Baltika Extra Lager Grade 9 = Awesome
It brings back fuzzy memories.![]()
I really need to start investigating and see if I can find that up this way...
I'll be trying the Newcastle Summer, Geary London Porter, O'Dell 90 Schilling and Dark Horse Cream Stout this evening. Reviews to follow.
Ethnic European grocery stores. If you go to the F5 next year, I will be sure to bring extra. I am working on getting the beer at wholesale because I work with the owner's wife. As Sconie represents, it will be free of charge. Selected customers only per my approval. You cool, so you are already approved.
Thanks. It's not an if--we'll be at the F5 again. Now that I think about it, I was on Brent's Baltika list this year but never got mine. Oh well.
And there's not much of anything distinctly ethnic up here. Oh well. I'll have to settle for KBC and the like...![]()
You live where? If extremes, I could drive up to Appleton/Green Bay. I could always use an excuse to drive up and drink at Dr. Jekell's in Appleton. I you end up in the Twin Cities at the end of this month, I could have Mr. wore Black drop off some stuff at Brent's and I will make sure it gets to you.
The UP. (Marquette, to be specific.)
Flashy and I are hoping to make it to the TC's sometime this summer, though.
Newcastle Summer - ok, nothing new
Geary London Porter - very good
O'dell 90 Schilling - ok
Dark Horse Cream Stout - outstanding
diva: you weren't around that much to get the Baltika.![]()
But, I know I still owe you a sixer of Finnegan's and a Baltika.
As much as I love Baltika, the gut rot is not.
Agreed. It tastes better than pretty much all of its malt liquor kin, but the rotgut after overindulgence is almost as bad. It's just so high in sugar and cheap fusel alcohols that I don't think one can entirely avoid it no matter how much water you chug before bed. I haven't had any in awhile for this reason, despite the fact that I can get the ghetto classy 51 ouncer for three bucks.
