There's a better chance that Shirtless Bob just doesn't know what he's drinking.
For Canadian, I stick with Pendleton, 7, or Crown. That's about it.
Based on this mention, I took a flyer on a bottle when I saw it the other day.
Very nice.
I saw it at a bar a couple years ago, had never heard of it, and gave it a whirl. Dunno if I'd ever blindly buy a bottle, so it worked out well for me. Glad the same happened to you.
I've bought many things blindly and some work out and others just get added to the collection on the chance that a guest will someday be happy I have it. There was one tequila though that I actually just poured out, it was such swill.
Pendleton... it's almost sweet. Almost gold rum-like.
The liquor store I got it from has pretty knowledgeable folks working there and I talked to one about it and he thought I'd like it based on other things I like.
The bottle's cool too. Cork top!
Your mention got it on my radar though.
Founders' Breakfast Stout is now at Meijer... so I'll be picking that up next week.
As for this week, it's Bell's Best Brown Ale. It's only available October-November, so I wanted to get it while I could.
They have them up here at Northgate all the time, whiskey tastings and beer tastings. Last time I was there they asked if I wanted to be on their email list, to get emails about their tastings. I declined because I didn't want even more spam. If you want to do one, I'm sure we could do one there at some point soon. This is how I find out about many bourbons. My main store's clerk has gotten me to try so many good ones...I wish they'd have another whiskey-tasting, as the first one they had was quite awesome. It was only $10, got to try about a dozen different kinds of whiskey (straight, scotch, rye, bourbon, etc), and if you bought a bottle of a whiskey you tried that night, it was $10 off.![]()

That would be fun, depending on what time they have them. Got lucky with this one, as it was 8pm on a Friday. Took about 2 hours, and probably had about 2-3 full shots of whiskey, if you added them all up.
And I think they carry it at Meijer, which is where I do all my shopping. If you like brown ales, Short's Bellaire Brown is my personal favorite and it's only available in Michigan.
I couldn't decide what to drink this weekend, so I defaulted to Maker's Mark. Whatever batch this bottle came from is one of the best I can recall. It's almost everything a bourbon should be.
They are in recover mode, after that whole "cutting proof" debacle.
Considering that prices went up instead, I accept the atonement.![]()
