Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Had a couple 7&7's tonight. Only had 1 can of Sprite....but I have a ton of Coke. So I was going to have a ______ and Coke, except I realized that the only thing I have that mixes with Coke/That I would mix with Coke is Wild Turkey 101.

Wild Turkey and Cokes it is!

I really need to pick up some cheap mixing bourbon, that isn't Turkey, some Evan Williams is in order next time I'm at the Booze Boutique.

To quote you on one of the MN-MTU road trips: "This tastes like college."

Talking with a local store clerk, who has given me good recommendations on bourbons and such, and he's pretty confident he can set me up with some Founder's KBS next spring. If that happens...:D:D:D

Brent once gave me props for ordering Turkey & Coke at the Dugout in St. Cloud. Used to be my preferred drink for a "Senanicans!" night during the Tech years - I would always make the first one Blacktooth-style (4 oz. of Turkey, a large splash of Coke).

Truthfully, I only ordered it that night because the SCSU chick who bought it for me was, uh...not my type? And no, we did not hook up, thank the hockey gods.

Did you already go through that homewrecker of Seagram's that you had last time we were there?

I gave you props because that's some hard-core stuff right there. Turkey is some nasty crap.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Its actually not too bad. But yeah, the tasting like college quote, it is fitting.

I have to say, having tasted Fighting Cock in the years since, I would probably switch to the cheaper Fighting Cock as a mixing bourbon, if I still did much mixing. It's as fiery as Turkey, but tastes less like kerosene and regret. ;)

No, I have Seagrams left, but I don't want to mix that with Coke, that is for Sprite.

7 & Coke isn't bad at all. Not too many Canadian Whiskeys (that I actually drink) that I'd mix, though.

Used to drink Windsor a lot in early college before I lost too many battles with it and eventually discovered rum.

Only recently started dabbling with whiskey again.

For a Canadian, I still stock CC here at home and don't mind it with Coke.

For a nice bourbon, I like Johnny Drum.

Haven't had any Windsor in about 23 years.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

For Canadian, I stick with Pendleton, 7, or Crown. That's about it.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

For "Tastes like college," my own would be Captain, Windsor and Jager - none of which I touch now nor have for years and years.

Yuck on all three counts.

Tastes like college is SoCo for me. Ugh.

I only had that a few times (in college of course) and after the SoCo hangovers, I never touched it again and literally just shuddered thinking about how it tastes and worse - smells.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

College for me was SoCo, for a while, and Jack....then Maker's Mark (I developed expensive tastes)

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

The taste I remember from school would be Rumpel Minze... It was so prominent that friends and I would call it "The Closer"... It ended many a night...

Also gotta go with the $12.99 30 packs of Busch Light... Might have went through a few of those at one time or another...

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Tastes like college is Miller High Life Light, Keystone Light and Karkov/Red Bull.

*shudder* Karkov.

I, like bbdl, developed expensive tastes. But only in vodka. Absolut (until I realized it was so overrated), then Stoli.
