Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

KBC is coming out with a new canned brew in mid May: November Gale Pale Ale. Also if anyone is going to be in Houghton the next couple weeks they have Acme Anvil Ale on tap, probably my favorite KBC.

Is it truly a new brew for them, or is it a renaming for distribution of an existing brew (ie "36 Schilling" is now "Olde Ore Dock")?

Picked up Odell's Shenanicans. :D I am anxious to try that. Same with Leinie's new Big Eddy release: a wee heavy Scotch ale.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

i am empty, so i went next door and found 9 cans of coors light in the fridge... now they are in my fridge.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Sorry, I went a little upscale tonight. Several chardonnays were just right.

Where at? Maybe I had tunnel vision, but I picked up Maifest and don't think Sid's has either of the previous?

Had the pleasure of downing a bottle of Chimay Blue tonight, now it's a tumbler or two of Highland Park 18YO Scotch.

Haskell's in Minnetonka. Caution: they are having their nickel wine sale (all prices end in a nickel, ooooo) so it's packed and annoying. I hadn't been there in a while, and wanted to see if they had some new brews. They also have a decent offering of Boulevard's special releases, but dangit I do have a budget for such things. :(

I picked up some wine this week (some is an understatement, but whatever) and didn't even look. Will have to go back.

The 18YO is very good, but my palate is not discerning enough to taste much of a difference between the 12 and 18 YO versions. Especially a $70 difference.

Sometimes you can taste it (see: Balvenie 12 vs 15 or 21), but yeah, usually the price difference/taste difference is a kill when it comes to the difference in taste when you start getting older than 12 years old. Maybe 15.

I won two $50 gift certificates to BevMo in a bet so I picked up two nice bottles of Scotch for the price of regular Scotch. Picked up that and Aberlour A'Bunadh, both highly satisfying.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Stopped at Sid's on the way home and picked up the SA IPA sampler, Summit Summer (I can't remember if I've ever had this one before) and Summit Sága IPA which I am very psyched to try. I found it interesting that they named a beer and apparently one of the Summit dudes is a fan of Odin etc., etc.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I finally tried the Grumpy Monk out of the sampler and it is just outstanding!

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Got to try Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve tonight. 120 proof!, so it needs to be cut with a little more water than I'm used to. After that, tho', it was really nice; warm and a lot smoother than I expected at that high an alcohol content. A great option when someone else is buying. :D
