Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!
I bought a bottle of Laphroaig 18 over the weekend. I liked it.

Haskell's in Minnetonka. Caution: they are having their nickel wine sale (all prices end in a nickel, ooooo) so it's packed and annoying.

I'll bring Laphroaig 18, and then one of my other non-Islay bottles...either the Auchentoshan 18 or the Glengoyne 17. I'll leave my Bowmore and my Lagavulin 16 at home.Picked up some Bowmoore 12YO for MNSFest. Thought about the Laph 10YO Cask Strength, but since you already are bringing Laph, I went with a different distiller.
Two-Hearted Ale now, bourbon later (my choice of Bulleit, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, or Beam Black). Friday, woot!![]()
Went to a party this afternoon and brought Bell's Oarsman Ale. Way too light for my tastes; I didn't know it was only 4% ABV until I bought it.
I tried "Wild Blue" Blueberry Lager. 8% ABV. It drinks like a cider--all fruit flavor, no real "beer" taste. Refreshing at first, but after a while the sweetness gets to you.
I wanted a little heavier beer. I didn't want something too heavy, but the Oarsman tasted like water; I think I'd have been better off with Oberon or Two-Hearted Ale.It's not always about ABV. It's about taste. At least, it is for me. And honestly, in summer, do you really want a heavy beer? Most likely not.![]()

I've always been a huge fan of Sam Adams Summer Ale.
Don't care if it's summer - if it tastes good I don't limit my choice to the season. Yeah, there are times when I want a Summit Summer or the NB Dig or a Maibock this time of year, but I don't shy away from a heavy PA just because it's hot out.
