Also tried the Grand Teton Howling Wolf wiessbier. Very very tasty.

We don't usually hear much about wine on here, but for an inexpensive sweet white, Cupcake Vineyards "Angel Food" is quite impressive.

My (future) MIL brought some last night. It was indeed quite tasty. I'm a fan of "Undone" (Pino Noir), plus it has a corset on the front. I love Velvet Devil, though it borders on the top of how much I'll spend on a bottle of wine (14$ :o )

Tried the Rogue Chocolate Stout tonight, and it was quite tasty. Sipping on some Appleton Estate on the rocks right now.

And got a recommendation from the liquor store guy for Jefferson's Whiskey, after noticing my purchase of Four Roses. He said they were very similar. Might have to try that sometime.

Bought Breckenridge Lucky U IPA and Oatmeal Stout yesterday and trying the IPA for the first time right now. I like it and hope to be pleased by the Stout.

[edit] Stout is up, and it's gooooood

I'll 2nd the Stout... Nice balance of heartiness and flavor, but not filling or overpowering...

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Had my first BAC of .OMG in ages last night.
This, I can confirm. :p
And I was the one playing Windsor Darts, and chasing it with pulls of Everclear.

As for drinking. I did some serious drinking in Houghton, but didn't really try anything new while there. Also, very impressively, I didn't get absolutely blasmed like most of you would expect. For the most part I behaved quite well.

I tried a barleywine for the first time today. Quite good, and especially smooth for having an 11% ABV.

So can the EMTs who 86'd me from the game. Imagine that conversation at the breakfast table:

"So honey, anything interesting happen at work last night?"

"Well, we dealt with a guy so plastered, he kept telling us that he was Mel Pearson, and insisted we take him back to the bench."

*Spits OJ with laughter*

Few witnesses. I'm pretty sure only one guy knows the whole story.

I only got four hours of fitful sleep, woke up at 5:30 to finish driving to Houghton, bought supplies at Econo, and decided it would be a great idea to <del>drink my lunch</del> pre-pre-game at friend's apartment. Had "only" two glasses of bourbon, but the only clean cup was a large plastic one. When I retrieved the bottle of Henry McKenna Single Barrel the following morning, it was a little over half gone. So I had poured 6-8 oz. servings over ice. That was followed by beers at the tailgate, and more bourbon (Jim Beam) back at my friend's place before the game.

The short version is - don't be a moron in the name of reliving your undergrad "glory years".

You are learning, young Padowan.....

I had forgotten how tasty Appleton Estate was. For you rum drinkers, spend the extra couple bucks, and forget about the mixer.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Which one? And I agree, they can be very good, though a bit odd for someone used to other types of beer.

It was from a brewery over in Superior, and it was called "Hammer of the Gods". It's listed as being an American style barleywine aged two years. It had a real mild sweetness to it, and I can see how one might call it odd if they're used to other types of beer.
