New Belgium Abbey Ale: Awesome. This stuff tastes great. I need to get a 6 pack.

Abita Purple Haze: Smells like marajahauna...marahuana....marijona...pot. Tastes ok, but definitely not my favorite. Holy **** this stuff smells like pot.

The NB Abbey is a great beer.

Met up with BPH at the Cooper for a brew or two. Tried the Fulton Blonde. It was decent. I could see myself picking up a sixer. Also had a Smithwick's, just because it's a good beer.

Related: our waitress? Holy hannah. Darn near 6 foot tall brunette with doe eyes. Everything else about her was very good, too.

I had a Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale (not quite what I expected -> hoppier than I figured it would be, but very smooth) and a Brooklyn Brown (decent, also a bit hoppier than I figured it would be but a good beer.)

I cannot complain about the Coopers' waitstaff at all. :D

Took a tour of the Wachusett brewery today. Craft brewery in Massachusetts. Both the summer ale and Octoberfesr were top notch.

I make no apologies.

Their blueberry beer is a nice, refreshing summer beer.

I'm headed here this weekend:

An annual end of summer evening with friends. For the beer cognescenti here, if you see anything under the "beer" tab that is a must try, please let me know.

*grumble* I'm from Fitchburg and I still haven't managed to get over there!

edit: of all places, the first time I found out about them was when I was in NYC.

I'm looking at picking up a growler, any recommendations?

The Mrs. got me a 2 liter oak aging barrel for our anniversary. I've got a batch of manhattans in there ripening. It's been about a week and a half now...I am anxious to see how it turns out.

What does that turn into

Sampled Brooklyn Brewing's Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. I thought the OF was different but nice, and I am typically not a Pumpkin Ale fan but I liked it as well. Both going for less than $6 per so a nice price at Sid's.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I grabbed the wrong sixer of NB the other night. It's the Red Hoptober. I'll give it a chance, but I'm not expecting to be a fan. I really hope I'm wrong.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Well, tried the Hoptober. Not as hoppy as I thought it would be, given the name. That being said, yes, it's about the upper limit of my hops taste. Definitely a one-and-done beer in my world. Very good, though, if you like that sort of beer. I can see why Slappy likes it.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

The KBC finally made a decent IPA. :)

It's a black IPA, which I find to be a slightly annoying trend, but tasty regardless.
