Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

We don't get Versus on campus anymore because of their dispute with DirecTV. ****

Lol I had a feeling Gilroy would score. I sent a message to the Devils, addressed to Lou himself, saying how good Gilroy was and how they should try their best to sign him. Got a letter back from someone in the scouting team saying they will look into him. I know the Devils had one of the highest offers, but they will regret not signing him. He has been excellent thus far and will only get better. He is everything the Devils have been missing.

When I was a Freshman in '99 (not THAT long ago) I had to mess around with Rabbit Ears just to get the 4 major networks in my dorm room...Now you guys are living in the lap of luxury and upset because you don't get Versus??? Holy Crap did I get shafted....

Lamoriello personally scouted Gilroy twice in the final weeks of the 2007-08 season. Devils took their best shot, but Gilroy wanted to play for Tortorella. That phone call from Drury didn't hurt either.

Listen old-timer, I don't wanna hear about how you had to walk to school uphill both ways, with your brother on your back, in the snow. :p :D

Assisted by Drury, one BU Hobey Baker Award winner to another!

Not at all a Rangers fan, but there's no question about this.

NYRs Hobey Winners>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NJDs Hobey Winner

I remember the days of no BU cable as well since we didn't get it until the spring of my freshman year. I must say everyone being forced to watch big sporting events in the lounge of the Towers (namely the entire 04 baseball playoffs) was an awesome experience. There mustve been a solid 500 students in there for ever NY-BOS ALCS game with a fairly decent split. Sadly, I came out on the sour end of that, but many of my friends from college were made being forced to watch TV there. And for college cable, BU's package is quite good, especially for sports. All 5 ESPN networks including the ESPNNEWS, U and Classic, CBS college, NFL Network, NESN, FSN/CSN, and Fox Soccer. I used to watch sports all day on my days off from school with little trouble.

i suppose nobody wants to hear about me bowling in the basement of the GSU?!?!?:p

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Ya know, cable in my dorm room would've been nice, but I would not want to trade the BU/Michigan game watch party in the GSU during the spring of '97, for 4 years of cable.

That was awesome. And also probably wouldn't have happened had we had cable in our rooms.

In fact, why is cable allowed in dorm rooms at all? Open a book.

I enjoyed watching some sports in the Claflin basement. Actually unwittingly met two future fraternity brothers doing just that. However, it also meant I met a cocky Yankees-Lakers fan while watching the games...considering I would've met two future friends no matter what, I'm not sure he was worth it. Total d-bag (and not just because of his Nicholson alliances).

Yeah, that is sort of a given. Just by virtue of NYR's Hobeys being BU students and NJD's being BC, I think I side with Drury and Gilroy, as big a Devs fan as I may be. Not to mention that Mike Mottau sort of stinks it up.

Tweet from Kevin Smith after the Rangers-Devils game:

ThatKevinSmith: I go to sleep, all is right with the world. I wake up, and some Blueshirt named Gilroy & a god****ed third period post trashes the day. Darn

Nice.
